When is the right time?

My question is....
When is the right time to start a family? i.e. get married and have kids?

I know people who have 3 kids and getting married and they are only 21! Also people like myself, who isn't even engaged let alone have kids and get married.

What age did you get married & have kids?

i personally think you will know when it feels right deep down

the right age isnt the factor its if you love someone and want to spend your life with them and have children when you have that person then that its the right age i reckon

I got married young and divorced young. No kids yet.
Everyone is different

Each person is different and has to follow their own timeline. Do not be bullied into it or succumb to peer pressure. Enjoy the search and enjoy the discovery of your partner. After that kids are generally inevitable. Kids should not be used to try and salvage a relationship.

me and my husband decided to live together at the young age of 16 and 17..so far our relationship is doing really good and now we are expecting for our first baby..

well for me,theres no such age limit for it,you just have to be really sure with your partner,really pray for it,and work things out together as one.

I don't think there ever is a "right" time. When you know, you know. And I think it entirely depends on who you are and what you want to do with your life

One of my friends is getting married next year. She's 25 and she and her fiance are in the process of buying a house and she's already admitted that they'll probably start trying for kids right away. They've only been together for 2 years. I know it sounds bad, but as far as I know, this friend has never had any real long term goals in her life.

My best friend is going to be 30 in September. She has been with her bf for 6 years, but she doesn't want to get married and she doesn't want to have kids until she's done her PGCE, which she'll start in 2010. She's always been far more career oriented, but she's also what I'd probably call an extremely free spirit, which is probably a factor in why she doesn't want to get married.

Of course, all my deductions could be absolute bollocks

There is never a "right time" to start a family. It all depends on how mature you are, how sure you are, and if you're physically and emotionally ready for it. The 20's and 30's just happen to be the age when a lot of people decide it's the right time, but for some it's younger and some older. You just need to sit down with your partner and talk about the pro's and con's to starting now and making a decision together.

Well there is the example of Catherine Zeta Jones and a star of yester years Elizabeth Taylor. While stars do lead different lives if you look at society today, I feel most marriages at a young age tend to break up. Kids tend to make marriages last longer.
Feel good about the person about whom you are planning to marry. That is most important, not the age.
