Baseball uniforms are drab compared to those of other sports. I'd spice it up and make things more appealing if I were commissioner. Therefore, I wish to share ideas and see what responses I get. Here were some I had in mind.

1.) NO TEAMS SHARE THE SAME COMPLIMENTARY COLORS
Too many teams wear red and blue. Sometimes it's hard to tell them apart because their uniforms look similar. The Red Sox, Indians, Twins, Angels, Rangers, Nationals, Braves, Phillies, Cubs, and Cardinals all look alike for that reason. They should mix it up with other colors and let fans and players vote who ends up with red and blue uniforms.

2.) NO MORE LONG BAGGY PANTS
I'd rather they wore those knickers from the 40's, 50's, and 60's. They could wear either knee socks or stirrups alongside. Those long pajama bottoms Manny Ramirez wears need to go.

3.) NO MORE SLEEVELESS JERSEYS
I'd require every player to don either button-down jerseys of today, the embroidered ones from the 1930's to 60's, the long-sleeved collared jerseys from the 1900's to 20's or the pullover jerseys from the 70's and 80's. I'd let the fans and players vote on that.

4.) GREATER VARIETY BETWEEN VISITOR UNIFORMS
The home teams should wear white, but not all visiting teams should don gray. They could have other pastel colors like sky blue, taupe, beige, green-gray, salmon, ivory, etc.

5.) PINSTRIPES ARE OPTIONAL
Each team would have pinstripes on either home or visiting uniforms if they so desire. If not, they could wear regular jerseys.

6.) EACH TEAM HAS TWO SOLID-COLORED JERSEYS.
The home teams could wear their lighter solid-colored jerseys while the visiting teams wore their darker ones. No teams competing could wear solid colors in the same game, moreover. They could each wear them once a series with have solid-colored pants if they wish.

7.) EVERY FRANCHISE HAS A HOME AND AWAY HAT.
The home hat could be the lighter color while the away one could be the darker. Or they could be the same but have different colored bills like those of the Atlanta Braves. The lighter bill could be the home hat while the darker bill could be on the away one.

8.) NO TEAM SHARES THE SAME FONT AS ANOTHER.
They could each have their own distinctive fonts in lieu commonplace script ranging from Papyrus, Century Gothic, Berlin Sans to Trebuchet, Old English, Roman, Magneto, and it'd be the same both uniforms like in every other sport.

9.) EVERY TEAM HAS PRIMARY AND SECONDARY LOGOS.
The primary logos could be stitched on the left sleeves while the logo pertaining to whichever league they belonged would be on the right side. They secondary logos could be on the left outer pant legs like in NFL teams while the city flag is on the left leg.

10.) ONLY TWO TEAMS WEAR SOLID-COLORED SOCKS
There could be spontaneous designs on the teams’ socks such as horizontal or vertical stripes, plaid, argyle, spider webs, octagons, stars, checkers, etc. The only exceptions would be the Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox who'd both live up to their actual names.

I don't know what you mean by home and away kits, but they do have home and away dugouts and locker rooms.

I don't know about you , but I watch the action and am oblivious to what their uniforms look like.

As in their main colours, then an alternative (away team) ones for those matches where there's a colour clash

That's not possible if the home team is wearing white or when only one team is wearing a solid-colored jersey. I'd set a rule that only one team wears a solid-colored jersey during a game.
