A mid season draft i can live with but plans for two draft periods during the season is ( for me) a step too far.

There is a long way to go and i want to see how they perform against the likes of Richmond but the dees certainly look good early.

Whilst the hot start by the red legs has surprised me i am not surprised by how well the scraggers are doing.

Round 6. ANZAC Day eve. Melbourne v Richmond in front of 75,000+. This will tell us a bit more about the demons.

After watching the dees take on the reigning premiers i am sold. They are, along with the dogs and port, the real deal. Most certainly wouldn't rule out Richmond. They remain a significant premiership threat. The jury is currently out on Geelong and Brisbane.

Just under 80,000 people at the G yesterday. The biggest crowd for a sporting event anywhere in the world since the start of the Covid 19 pandemic.

Melbourne v Brisbane in Sydney...

Really impressed with the way the dees were able to turn things around in the second half. Their ability to protect the fat side and the corridor when the opposition have the ball and their ability to exploit these same areas when they have possession is pretty impressive. They were also able to control the tempo of the game after half time and have it played on their terms.

The dees really do seem to be without an obvious weakness. They have an outstanding midfield headed by the games best ruckman and two of the best mids going around. Down back they have great balance and are led by two of the best defenders this season. Up forward they also have good balance and a number of avenues towards goal. Hard to see how the dees don't finish top 4. They have a game style and personal that you think will hold up under finals pressure but only time will tell.

Can't remember another time when BOTH prelims were such blowouts. Every thing is pointing to a great grand final.

Well the Grannie was an excellent match for the neutrals up until midway through the third quarter at which time the dees went up to another level that the dogs simply couldn't match. The final result was a blowout.

Hard to remember a team dominating a finals series to quite the extent that Melbourne did this season.

Melbourne are the only team still unbeaten and are two games clear of Brisbane and Carlton.
