Boris Johnson is understood to be contemplating legal action against people comparing him to former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.
The comparisons with arch-socialist Mr Corbyn came less than a week after Mr Johnson announced what is effectively the heaviest tax burden on ordinary people in decades.
His move is a desperate bid to combat the social care calamity caused by the entirely avoidable covid crisis, and by the blustering, scarecrow-headed Old Etonian buffoon of a Prime Minister’s stem-to-stern mishandling of the crisis.
A Downing Street insider said: “Mr Johnson will not take scurrilous accusations such as this lying down. To compare him to Corbyn, or just about any other left-wing politician, is a monstrous slander.
“Mr Corbyn is best known for wanting to make the wealthy, the powerful and the greedy, not to mention the owners of enormous tax-dodging multi-billion-dollar corporations, pay their fair share of the cost of running the country.
“Mr Johnson, by contrast, has never had any intention of making the wealthy, the powerful and the greedy, not to mention the owners of enormous tax-dodging multi-billion-dollar corporations, pay their fair share of the cost of running the country - not least because he is friends with most of them and the party relies on them for donations.
“He prefers to make ordinary people, no matter how hard-pressed they are already, pay for the consummate bollocks he and his wretched band of public-school-and-Oxbridge cronies have made of the pandemic and just about every other aspect of public life they’ve ever had their rapacious, blood-drenched paws on.”
