@Na Said
The reasoning goes, if I don't like abortion then I don't perform an abortion, if I don't approve of gai-marriage then I don't participate in that, and I don't want COVID hysteria I don't live in COVID hysteria.
Only one of these personal decisions negatively affect others. Can you guess which it is?
Sure, people can do whatever the hell they want, and should be allowed to … up to a point.
That “point” is when it crosses into a negative effect upon others.
This is why there are laws, against crime. It is the most basic, stripped down, reason why we have government. Even libertarians believe this is an essential role of government - to protect others from your stupidity and recklessness.
Otherwise why have it at all? Are you an anarchist?
So yes, we have individual freedom. But this does not mean you get to walk into a store and take what you want without paying. It does not mean you get to floor the gas pedal on public roads. It does not mean you get to unleash your pit pull into your open front lawn and victimize passer-bys. It does not mean you get to decide that you don’t believe COVID-19 is real and is just a, in your insensitive words, “hysteria”, and breathe and cough on unsuspecting victims wherever you wish.
Don’t worry. Despite what Marjorie Greene wants you to believe, the SS isn’t going to knock down your door, duct tape your mouth and drag you off. Heck, there won’t even be any more lockdowns. That was an effort to taper down hospitalizations so our emergency medical institutions wouldn’t break down. 60-70% are now vaccinated so that threat is not there anymore. However, 30-40% are not, and mutations occur, so safe practice is still common sense and needed. And companies and employers certainly still have the right to require masks in their buildings.
So if the sociopath leader in Florida trying to score political points with Trump that you have an obvious hard-on for isn’t going to support that, then he needs to get out of the way and let them do that. If I were a teacher in Florida, with my immunocompromized wife and unvaccinated child that I come home to every day (fact), you bet your a** I would have sued him like crazy, on the personal, local, state, and federal level, no matter what the cost.
My family’s safety is at stake because of your side’s selfishness, stupidity and carelessness.
