Hello Team

Full disclosure: I voted for Mr Trump twice, so that might make me a Trumpet. And--fun fact--I played the cornet back in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade! Hooray for the brass section!!

I'm *loosely* familiar with the events surrounding the death of George Floyd and for this reason, I'll offer up my take.

1. Don't do drugs. It's better to be filled with the Holy Spirit
2. If you do do drugs, you make poor choices around police. Our law enforcement is the last line of defense in handling the criminal element in our society. I am very grateful that we have police officers in the United States. They are underpaid and under-respected and underappreciated.
3. The death of George Floyd has been wrongly politicized. At the very worst, this could be a case of a police officer using excessive force.
4. It's out of my hands. The whole thing has little to do with me other than, since we're all curious, I believe the thing could have been avoided.

Be sober. Be respectful to police officers.

I know that I know that I know that at no time in the next 100 years will I be wrongly killed by a police officer and the primary reason I won't be wrongly killed is that I intend to do exactly as they say if I'm being questioned or detained.

(It doesn't mean I won't eventually be killed by police--as I'm thinking there's a small chance that could happen.)

You can't resist/fight the cops and expect all things to go smoothly.

As expected from a Trumpet… excuses for a bad cop.

Full disclosure: I voted Against Trump both times. I also played horn, starting in 3rd grade, and still play to this day. Any curiosity on YouTube might uncover some of my follies.

Then they should have been upholding that honorable position and weed out the poison in their own ranks.

When does "just this one time" become too much?

I started on a cross-breed of trumpet and coronet, then I moved to a real trumpet.
But not any other brass.
(I filled in for crash symbols on a percussion ensemble once Haha)

As far as the issue, both are to blame. But one already suffered the consequence (which was too excessive). The other does starting today.

Thanks! Is the cornet easier than the trumpet to play or learn on? Is that why they have you starting with that as a kid?

I think maybe just because it's smaller.

Hey Leon,

Cool. Me too! I've learned a lot about jazz music from listening to H Johnson on National Public Radio on Saturday's back in the early 2000's. I use to listen to his show on the radio while cleaning the fish tanks.

When I get back home (home home----I travel for work) I'm putting my record player in the shop (one channel isn't up) and might get a couple of jazz records.

John Hansel is my guy.

But---to answer your question I believe I had an Eastman brand Cornet. Picked it up way back in 1983 and pawned it off in 1987ish. (6th through 8th).

Still enjoy listening.

Good movie to watch>>>> Angel Eyes which features John Hansel music (Jesus pretends to play it).

***John Hassell*** two s's two l's

***Jon Hassell*** no h in Jon---(holy smokes)

Not familiar with Hansel. I’m not as familiar with the current deck overall, to be honest. But I am with all the greats of the past, from Armstrong to Woody Shaw (sticking with the subject of trumpets here), as I listen to them all the time. Monk and Coltrane are my all time favorite jazz artists, and that’s probably not surprising for most. There are many others I listen too as well from that era. Some are still alive (but reaching 80-90 in age). I’m especially into pianists since that’s my instrument, although I’m nowhere near being worthy of someone to listen to.

No--it's not.

Knowing what's my lane and what's not is a great adult strategy.

In 2020 people took streets, and burned buildings, and committed acts of violence, and committed acts of vandalism on and on.

They felt justified in their anarchy and shouted slogans.

THAT was selfish.

THAT was being disrespectful.

I, during that time, was working, putting a prodcut together for my customer and caring for my family. Mr Trump didn't teach me that.

By the way, His name is Donald Trump and I don't identify myself using that weird foul term.

Stay classy.
