"And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day." --Jesus (quote from John 6:39)
That thing he calls "the last day" refers to the Great and Terrible Day of the Lord. Here the last day is interchangeable with "day of the Lord" and the second coming.
Clearly Jesus views himself as a Cosmic Being equal with the Father.
The only way you could view accepting Jesus as messiah sin would be if you are bound to demonic forces or if you were French Canadian.
If equal, the Father can do nothing without the Son, if I read John speaking for Jesus and this verse correctly.
John 5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
You interpret Cosmic Being incorrectly according to the following verses.
Here is the real way to salvation that Jesus taught.
Matthew 6:22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Allan Watts explain those quotes in detail.

Joseph Campbell shows the same esoteric ecumenist idea in this link.

The bible just plainly says to put away the things of children. The supernatural and literal reading of myths.
