After a group of Palestinians rioted in Jerusalem and the riot was put down. Hamas decided to launch huge barrages of rockets at Israel. The IDF responded swiftly. The coalition broke down and Netanyahu is the boss again. People, as usual, have begun to protest against Israeli action saying the IDF is being too heavy handed against Hamas. What do TFSers have to say about it?

Israel should stop taking land and give back what it took.

during the desert storm, i remember the map that shows the strip and that israel owned. even today, being jewish, then even high school, during the six days war.

i quitted saturday school at my temple in my teens, whenm i was 16. i was about to be comfirmed, they want us take homework to learned the israel and the six days war. i quitted the school, too much homework for something really wasn't that interesting. it took too much time for my regular schoolwork to keep up.

even then, with six days war and the desert storm, these days. it is hard for me to defend or support israelites over there for their actions. i have relatives over isreal, hardly know. i still questions, if they have rights to attacks innocent people for a stripe of land.

In 2006 the Palestinians were asked to vote on who would represent them and elect members to the Palestinian Authority. Fatah and Hamas are the two main parties. Hamas lost the election so they took up arms and tried to wrest power away from Fatah in the Fatah Hamas Conflict . In the West Bank Fatah prevailed but in the Gaza Strip Hamas was victorious.

Over 600 Palestinian civilians were killed in the fighting, Hamas executed many more in their consolidation and control phase afterwards.

Hamas is backed by Iran, who supplies them missiles to launch at Israeli settlements. While the Palestinians starve, Hamas' soldiers are well fed, can do anything or anyone they want, and spend the money sent by the UN on weapons instead of medicine and food for their people.

What's notable is these things usually follow a pattern. So far this time isn't too much different just more intense. First a peace agreement with international backing is on the table. Then some Palestinians start crap with the IDF and get their butts kicked. Then Hamas starts launching rockets at Israel. Next the Israelis respond. THEN international opinion shifts to support Hamas. The Israelis back down because of the pressure. And the peace agreement fails.

If there were no Israel Hamas would have no reason to exist.

Obama thinks that there are aliens...

Straight up... no s***... he thinks we need to get to the "bottom" of UFO's.

So, if a leftist liberal democratic socialist claims that there are aliens... don't we know it is a fake!

We need an alien thread

Start one....

"Crop Circles... faked or super cool graffiti in grass..."

"UFO's... are aliens really traveling thousands of light years, virtually instantaneously, to do silly fly-by in our skies?"

"MIB's... easily explained by collective consciousness/mythology/dreams... or aliens from across the universe who are obsessed with our anus..."

"Is Planet Earth as zoo or an intergalactic nature park?"

"Are Earthlings really Martians?"

"Is the bible some codex of ancient aliens... or is it just the poorly written mythology of the Israelites?

"Mathematically 'other' life in the universe is a certainty vs Earth is only 6000 years old"

etc...

crop circles - scientists might be explain that the circles themselves. it could be explain by polar shifting. the magnetic forces can couterclockwise or couterwise cause the surface of the earth's magnetic field change the ground to make crop circles. it is explain why the circle is perfect round and circular patterns are so perfect made.

if you watch on a & e entertainment channel and discovery channel explain more better than me, look for document shows with crop circles. they are pretty intersting watch.

Muslims occupied the vast majority of the area, including Jerusalem, by the late 1800’s up until WWII. Afterwards, and with the sympathy of much of the West, many of the Jews who were displaced from the Holocaust (and then some) emigrated to what is now Israel in a “return to the Holy Land”. This of course, created territorial friction with the Muslims already living there. And England, who occupied the land before WWII, didn’t help matters much when, being a Western country, upon leaving, divided up the land in a manner that favored the Jews more than the Muslims, sparking a war in 1948. The sheer might of the West mostly prevailed, but the result still remains to be recognized by any of the surrounding Middle-Eastern Muslim countries. And fighting really hasn’t stopped since and, no matter how much leaders try, probably won’t. Both sides on ground zero are highly reactive to one another and extremely trigger happy. Until one side finally decides to be the “adult” on this, it will continue.

What we as outsiders can do regarding the Middle East as a whole is this:

1. Continue to push towards a fossil fuel free world.

2. Stop the partisan catering on the Israel/Palestine issue. And by partisan, I don’t mean Republican and Democrat. I mean recognize both states and set the same standards of behavior to each, and if either crosses the line, it will be dealt with, no matter who it is. If this approach creates a political backlash among Jewish Americans, so be it. Enough is enough already.

3. As far as states that harbor terrorism or invade other countries, they should be policed internationally via a coalition or the UN. The US or any individual state should not be making the sole intervention decisions here. This better eliminates selfish interests in any matters and better vets real problems rather than manufactured problems.

4. Otherwise, stop meddling. No, the region is not a shining pillar of democratically run states, and probably never will be. But as long as it is stable, there is no reason to throw in more sticks of dynamite. This includes a recommitment to the Iran nuclear deal, as that was its purpose.

If you controlled Hamas it would be a great way to create a temporary distraction from anything else going on in the world. Key to that strategy would be not allowing Israel to destroy them; would lose an asset.
