I don’t think anyone can tally yet. But they can tally if the ballots are coming from registered Democrats vs registered Republicans, which, granted of course it isn’t official, is where the estimated numbers are coming from.

There's Pre-Processing, Tallying, and Deadlines

NY Times has a decent graphical representation

NCSL Has a table to read through.

Though some Tallying may start early, I don't think any can report results until the polls close.

And if I remember correctly, the news outlets don't start predicting outcomes until the west-coast polls close.

Interesting. Why is that?

I believe that our "democracy"... our constitution... our systems of government needs to be put to the test.

I would like to see Trump challenge the 22nd (i.e. two term only) amendment.

Then....

1. Our Supreme Court will have to decide if they will stick with our constitution or go against it.
2. Our citizens will have to also decide if going for a 3rd term is something they find acceptable.

The USA needs to be pushed to the limit and tested.

If "we" survive, then our system will have proven itself.

If not, then the whole thing is bs.

Either way, "we" will know.

Just pessimistic? Bookies and Polls predict a Joe Biden win.

the polls were wrong in 2016.

Bookies... I'm pretty sure most of them were wrong in 2016 also.

The "x factor" is that Americans are the most willfully ignorant people on planet earth.

And if I had one wish to make this election season . . . it would be for all of the children of the world join hands and sing together in a spirit of harmony and peace.

And I'm confident in saying that deep down we all want the very same thing.

I'd like to buy the world a home and furnish it with love

Shut your dirty whore mouth!

If my voodoo doll spells work, the Senate will shift Democrat... the H.R. will remain Democrat... Trump will be impeached... then removed from office.

Sure at that point will be stuck with Pence, but with a Democrat controlled congress he will be a lame duck.

The only problem is that i don't have any rot-gut Haitian rum for the voodoo ceremonies.... and I just don't know if Papa Legba accepts low quality tequila instead... fingers crosses on that one.

Now look here Chaski, the UK people are the most.......oh, forget it.

Reading the Guardian article linked above, it seems uncertain if the poll bias towards the Democrats in 2016 has been corrected despite "assurances". Nevertheless, the lead of Joe Biden over Donald Trump is on average about double that of 2016 (Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump)

Yes, the Bookies got it wrong in 2016.

I look at it like this:

> I voted against Trump.
> I strongly suggest and support others to vote against Trump.

> But in the words of someone (Margaret Thatcher?), "hope for the best, plan for the worst, and you will end up ok".

In other words, I'm not getting my hopes up. I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than let down.

Ah okay. Figured it was something like that.

As for point 2, we already know the answer - it would likely be 50ish vs. 40ish or somewhere near that in polling. In other words, split along party lines. We already know, from more generalized surveys in the past that people prefer security (real or imagined) over freedom.

The polls were not wrong. Clinton had a 2 point polling lead at the election. Guess how much she won the popular vote by? And even if she hadn’t won the popular vote, it still would have been within the margin of error.

As of today, Biden is averaging 9.7 points ahead of Trump.

Thanks for the info! So it’s more like we don’t know the results yet, but some people do...of some the mail in ballots that is.

But we do know where the ballots are coming from and it is predominantly Democratic. Unlike the past. in terms of mail in ballots, which were predominantly from older, conservative voters.

And I thought Trump was president these last 3+ years.

Silly me.

nobody watch nbc anymore, abc will win the rating. probably, mbl playoff will win the rating for the night. it would typical, but it would pretty funny.

I still want to see our country put to the test, and see if our constitution survives it.

Once we survived a civil war, but can we survive a direct assault on our constitution.
