I'm skeptical of another stimulus package.

Yes it'd be great to get another check from Uncle Sam, but I'm sure there are other people/families that need it more than me. The difficulty is in sorting out that need.

But what else is buried, or not advertised in such a package?

The last time, they touted help for small businesses, but then it was uncovered that large companies were playing the loopholes to dip into the fund. And only after they got caught did some return the money (supposedly)

The airlines are crying for a bailout now. Yes, they employ a lot of people (well, a lot less now) but how long have they been gouging the customers with fares and fees to make huge profits and pay their C-Levels enormous bonuses?
If there are fewer flights, they're not going to be paying staff for not working. They're not going to be buying new planes to just sit idle.

Let the corporations slash and burn as necessary, but then have the stimulus go directly to the people that were affected.

... aside from the question of where this money is going to come from.

As to where the money comes from: they print it. Which means that devalues all the other money already out in circulation.
Or more deficit. It’s not a good situation.

Seriously, the greatest depression has begun.

And yes it was all trumpsterf***s fault.

Anyway...a stimulus could have worked, but we already f***ed up the first one, with pork so I don’t really have hope with the second. Though I could also use the check. — our medical bills never end. I’m not sure it will help the economy as a whole.

I donated my last one to a non-profit.

I'm sure some would consider that a waste or even stupid, but it is what I did.

If I gave it to someone, "who?" and "why not someone else?"... so charity was what I opted for.

That’s actually a really good idea.

A lot of non profits are really struggling now.

I know that there is some fraud in all this. Hospitals get funding for claiming their patients are affected by COVID. Non-COVID illness is being attributed to the pandemic.

I watched a documentary on the medical supply shortage associated with the COVID-19 virus ( PBS-Frontline ). The interviewees are a Senator, a couple of supply chain experts, a 3M representative and some medical professionals. They talk about the failures of the administration to acquire the necessary supplies for the medical industry to fight the pandemic.

The thing they do not mention even once is the affect the WTO agreement has had on this issue. The simple fact is the manufacturing is all done in China. The 3M representative, whose company has gotten super wealthy on cheap labor and the lack of OSHA and EPA regs, trying to blame the administration for their inability to procure supplies is ridiculous.

There was mention of the shortage of sanitizing wipes was partly because the containers were manufactured in China.

I think maybe the same with small bottles of hand sanitizer

The upcoming issue according to the documentary, will be the lack of syringes needed to vaccinate everyone. The vaccine may require two shots which means 700 million syringes for the US.

Don't worry.

They'll prioritize distribution to the important people.

everything is primarily made in china. Even some things that are not necessarily labeled made in china, some of their components are made there, so they can be produced if china is cut out completely.

most manufacturing went over there because of tax cuts and profits. Not that things can't be made other places just that they will be more expensive and not as quickly produced. Chinese factories are very large, so they are fast... the shipping is what actually takes the longest in the process.

When it comes to good and services you only get to pick two of the following things: fast, good, or cheap. For most of our modern economy fast and cheap have been the choices, and china has totally stepped up to meet that need.

other manufactures can do the same things, just not as fast or as cheap. The quality is not always seen in the final product, like sometimes plastic is plastic- but definitely a difference in the quality of the way the work force is treated.

Though camel toe in women's jeans is almost exclusively a Chinese garment manufacturing quality control, in garment making. By adjusting the pattern slightly, they can make more pants out of the fabric, and save $$$ but the result is camel toe.

of course it's easier to just call the woman a slut and ratchet than than to address the manufacturing issue.

Trump knows this

Trump also knows that his "tax cuts" are an unsustainable depletion of revenue for the USA.

So... he puts tariffs on China... China raises its prices... "we" (the American citizen/consumer) continue to buy what we buy and pay for the tariff.... not China.

It is called a "hidden tax".

And Americans bought it... hook... line and sinker...

Its quite ingenious... dupe the willfully ignorant into believing that you are helping them, while you grift them.

I think the "art" of the "great deal" is explained in one or two of Donald's books (whoever actually written by) With suitable euphemisms where appropriate. In essence, you get everything, while the punter gets nothing......yet they go away thinking they got it all.
