| Matthew 15:9 - They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules. - Most of us have not been able to take a road trip this year, but when we do we want our maps, g.p.s or whatever to be accurate. And accuracy regarding God's word is what the leaders of the church reformation worked for. Christ had the same problem. Before the reformer's work became successful in the fifteen hundreds there was only one church in the whole world that would permit no others and was willingly preaching things that were not even close to God's word. The reformer's work was not easy. Sometimes their writings were burned, some had to hide and some were even killed by the church because they were said to be working against it. The most important thing the reformers wanted everyone to know was that Jesus Christ was their only savior, and not their own works. For centuries the Bible offers that the disobedient and unsubmissive shall be sent to Hades for eternal torment.
I come along, think about things, and offer that Hades is merely a process monitoring sleeping minds and scare-crowing them awake if they begin to shut down in sleep. I also conject that after life we may experience a horrific virtual existence in order to scare us awake into a new body / new incarnation.
Now, between these two decryptions, which one sounds like the intentions of a semi-rational creator and which sounds like Hitler?
And am I really the first one to solve this problem or is the world fake and screwing with me? |

Well, history tells us that within just one or two generations the "reformers" were breaking up into diverse groups each claiming the "correct" interpretation of Scripture. Not long before they were at each others throats. What the Bible "offers" appears to vary from person to person. |

I can't help thinking that you experience the world as one in which various "demons" are hovering around, deceiving, wishing you ill, testing you. All drawn from various worlds of cinema, TV and a vivid imagination.
Me, I am more down to earth, in as much as the "manipulators" inhabit the actual historical past, their words and teachings coming down to us within and as part of the culture we cannot help but inherit - this irrespective of whether we have even heard of the main sources.
In our current context, St Augustine for instance. Study reveals a man incapable of genuinely trusting his God, riddled with anxiety. Living in the 4th century, the world around him was disintegrating. His interpretations of what was then "scripture" - drawn, as study shows, from translations that often distorted in certain ways the original Greek - gave our world "original sin", the diabolical teaching of unbaptised infants being despatched to hell, the eternal torment of the vast majority. His was the Biblical interpretation that won the day, that was passed on - even to the Reformers mentioned by Snowduck.
Other interpretations of both Old and New Testaments are available, now more and more explored by devout Christians seeking, even believing in, having faith in, a God who will in time save and redeem ALL.
Trust in Reality is not a soft option. But the trust that all around us are forces that only seek our good is worth the effort to find. |

Perhaps the Bible is a grammar lesson and warning that texts need to be void of the authors' personalities in favor of a universally agreed upon dialect which all will easily be able to associate the correct way. |

In contrast I see, what others call 'demons', as misunderstood mechanisms necessary to make this world work.
As for distrusting who made this mess....
Just simply taking everything for face value this world has been designed to favor predators.... |
