Meanwhile, the UK's very own Donald Trump Tribute Act proceeds with his intention to break the EU divorce deal he negotiated, signed, passed and won an election with.

As Boris bumbles along, his Secretary of State, Priti Patel cracks a joke that I did think of posting on the Jokes & Humour section:- "Extinction Rebellion threaten our way of life". Good one Priti!

Yes Priti. They are. That's what they're there for.

Ed Miliband, a Labour Party spokesperson (Leader Sir Keir Starmer self-isolating) explains to Parliament why Labour will not support the Government Bill.

Excerpt:-

"Let’s get this straight for a minute.

What he’s telling us is that his flagship achievement.

The deal the prime minister told us was a triumph.

The deal he said was oven-ready.

The deal on which he fought and won a general election.

Now he says far from being oven-ready it is completely half baked.

Or in the words of no 10 it is “contradictory and ambiguous”.

What incompetence.

What failure of governance.

How dare he try and blame everyone else. "

Here is the full speech. I doubt anyone will listen to all of it, but there you are.

(At one point Mr Miliband gives Boris Johnson the opportunity to contradict the points he is making. Boris Johnson remains silent)

Quite illuminating reading various reports on the speech mentioned. Lock into our prejudices then make your choice......Boris Johnson ruthlessly exposed as a conman.........or a speaker out of his depth and treated with disdain by Boris Johnson. And all points in between.

Either/or........both/and...........whatever. Who cares anymore as the Western world slides down into the pit.

The danger signals are there.

The people of Northern Ireland voted 55 to 45 to Remain. Since when they have been sold down the river by the UK Government. Treated with contempt (except when the DUP was needed to shore up their majority in parliament)

The sickening advance of Brexit continues, the "little englanders" having shut down Parliament illegally in the name of "democracy", won a General Election with an "Oven Ready Deal" that they are now tearing up, and breaking International Law in order to do it. Led by a buffoon who has been sacked twice in his career for lying, who appears (at PMQ) of being incapable of putting together a coherent sentence, who.....

Oh well, nevermind, here comes Global Britain as it ploughs on with restrictions on entry to the Golden Land, withdraws from the Convention of Human Rights and is making louder and louder noises against the UK trial by jury system.

And with the majority he has in the House of Commons, there is nothing we can do to stop him. He knows this.

He also has the popular (and populist) press in his pocket and his cohorts are working at systematically dismantling the only objective news reporter that a) reports the facts faithfully and b) is actually even handed in complete opposition to the allegations of bias that are thrown at it. Of course, I mean the BBC.

This IS fascism. It is exactly how fascists operate and we've been saying it for years and yet all Johnson has to do is throw out some wild promises of jam tomorrow and shake his floppy blonde hair, then accuse the opposition of "Doing Britain down" and saying "We'll get through this together with the Dunkirk spirit" and the entire country falls into line behind him.

It's Great Britain Show they all can't get enough of and will march to the tune of no matter what disasters befall.

It's very simple: Evoke World War 2. The country will love you. You're on a winner.

Sadly I feel more and more alienated in my own country. Even with many of my old mates (and current) I pick up the vibes of The Leavers Refrain. Perhaps cowardly, I always steer away from the subject.

On a Tabloid Comments section (I've now given up on these entirely) I once simply spoke of the contribution of the Polish pilots during the Battle of Britain, of the rearguard action of the French army that aided the eventual rescue of so many soldiers from Dunkirk, of the defiance of Norway early on in the war that had many beneficial repercussions later, the enlisting of millions of commonwealth citizens from across the world early after the declaration of war.......this was to "trash our country" (I can't remember the exact phrasing) The "little englanders" love the "we stood alone" and of how europe was "saved" by us and us alone.

Whatever, all the best to you.

Voter Dominique Cummings-Eyetest has told the British government today that she only plans to break the new Coronavirus rules on social gatherings in a ‘very limited and specific way’, given that this behaviour is considered perfectly acceptable by the government.

As many people adjust their lives and plans for the coming weeks according to government instructions, some have decided they will go ahead and do as they please, given they will only be breaking the rules in a 'very limited and specific way'.

The government has deemed her comment ‘irresponsible’, with a Downing Street spokesperson telling us, “You can’t ignore the laws you don’t like just because that’s what we’re doing with Brexit."

“The situations are very different. For example, Ms Myopia-Cummings didn’t willingly sign a document agreeing to abide by these new restrictions, having spent months negotiating the finer details, just like we did with the Northern Ireland protocols – she had these rules forced upon her. So it’s very different.

“As everyone knows, if you're the government you can break rules that you not only wrote, but also willingly signed up to and trumpeted as a "triumph" – but if you're only a member of the public you can’t break the ones you had no say in whatsoever. See?”

Landlord Derek Pintpuller, mine host at the Dog and Duck, told us, “I am fully supportive of the government’s plans in their attempts to restrict the transmission of the coronavirus, and I will adhere to absolutely all of them.

“Except the ones I don’t like, obviously. Such as closing the pubs at 10pm.

“I intend to stay open until at least 11pm, as I usually do, but because I’m only breaking the rules in a very specific and limited way, I’m sure this won’t prove to be an issue.”

Alas, it began with Dominic Cummings breaking the very rules he had helped to draft, then actually being defended by the PM who "would not mark him down".

The UK Government has set its example. Negotiate a deal with a second party, sign it, seal it, sell it to the nation. Then renege on it, breaking International Law.

Now they appeal to the public to obey the Law.

Latest Polls in the UK show just 39% now think Brexit is a good idea.

But here we go.....that's democracy!

(As the ardent brexiter David Davis once said:- "A democracy that can no longer change its mind is no longer a democracy" )

With just three months now before the UK finally leaves the EU time perhaps for a summing up.

Latest Polls show that just 39% of UK citizens now think that Brexit is a good idea.

"Taking back control":- the explicit directive of the EU was that freedom of movement was "not an unqualified right". Entry to the UK could be refused to those deemed a danger to public policy. Again, the UK was allowed to deport EU nationals, over 4000 being deported in 2018. For those outside of the EU, we have always had control.

As the UK "takes back control" it proposes a points system which will exclude those most needed by our Social Care system. With vacancies currently about 100,000, the consequences of this are evident.

Of the "billions" sent to the EU each year, simply looking at our tax returns show that this amounted to just 1p of each £1 paid. An excellent deal. It guaranteed frictionless trade with our nearest neighbours. It ensured that if the UK produced the best and the cheapest, then no tariffs or quota system could preclude sales to a market of over half a billion people. What more needed to "unleash our potential"?

"Sovereignty"? As Sir Winston Churchill said, national sovereignty should not be seen as inviolable, there is always the possibility that it can be surrendered in part for a greater good.

Alas, the start made by our current Government does not bode well. A Deal signed and sealed, sold to the nation, that won the General Election, is now to be unilaterally pulled apart. The EU, quite rightly, now taking legal action.

Some claimed that they had been "left behind", that "the Establishment" needed kicking. It is evident that, given that our EU Nationals contributed a net amount to the Exchequer and that our frictionless trade with the EU boosted our economy, then the reasons why anyone at all was "left behind" should be looked for elsewhere than in membership of the EU. For instance, in the policies of successive UK governments and the inequitable distribution of our nations wealth. As far as the Establishment is concerned, it remains very much alive and well despite any kicking received - the old pals network of our current government is evident.

All reliable economic analysis shows that the UK will be poorer. Brexit is an act of self harm that now only 39% support.

I just find it funny that my opinion that things were moving too fast in regards to Brexit has resulted in HMG admitting that there was stuff in the WA that they didn't apparently know was in there.

Which leads us to one of only two possible conclusions.

If they didn't know things were in there, and signed a legally binding agreement without reading it through properly and considering all the implications of what they were signing, then they are guilty of gross negligence.

If they DID know it was in there, but are simply trying to flannel their way out of the mess they've created and committing an act of crime against international law in the process, in which case they're not only criminals by virtue of the fact, but they're lying to the British people in the process.

Either way, this government is not fit for office.
