A Jewish guy living in a Russian village has the habit each morning of crossing the square in order to pray at the synagogue. He has done this each day for more than twenty years.

One morning a cossack, who acts as the local sheriff, decides to have a bit of sport. He goes up to the little guy and says:-

"Where do you think you are going then?"

The guy says:- "I don't know"

The cossack then asks him again but gets the same answer. Then he says:-

"Look here, every day for the past twenty years you have gone the same way. Now, your last chance, tell me where you are going!"

" I don't know" says the little Jewish guy.

At this the cossack loses his temper, grabs the guy and drags him to the local prison. He throws him into the cell, slams the door and turns the key.

The little guy comes to the door and says:- "See, you never know."

Totally off on a tangent, but I thought of the words of some old gal who walked 6 or so miles back and forth to work for over three weeks during the Montgomery bus boycott. In celebrating victory she said:- "My legs are weary but my heart is rested."
