Economics - Something needs to be done about "money".
It may not be the root of all evil, but it sure is behind of a lot of it.

I've wondered about some kind of formula where salaries (and bonuses) of C-Levels and management are tied to the salary/pay rate, and number of "worker-bee" employees.

Profit margins should also be limited so we don't end up with $800 toasters...

It would still reward for hard work and position, but not at the expense of the workers.

(google snip)
CEOs see pay grow 1,000% in the last 40 years, now make 278 times the average worker. The pay gap between top executives and workers continues to be wide. Since 1978, CEO compensation rose 1,007.5% for CEOs, compared with 11.9% for average workers, according to the Economic Policy Institute.

Ditto here in UK too, Mr H. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Gap Between Rich and Poor Grows

We have had austerity measures in force for ten years now and despite being told repeatedly that "Austerity is over", had it not been for the massive cash injection into the economy to fight Coronavirus, there is little doubt it would still be in effect. And with the storms on the horizon for our battered economy, the current state of affairs may be just the tip of the iceberg.

Ten years ago, food banks were almost unheard of in Britain. And then they were only for the most desperate. Now they are the norm for millions. There are children in schools now who have never known anything but living off food obtained from a food bank. Those children are growing up knowing nothing else.

I had one of my (not infrequent. lol) disputes on another forum about this and one person said it would all be sorted out by Brexit and we'd all be better off. I asked him if he seriously thought that the benefits of Brexit - if any - would filter down to ordinary people and he was convinced that the major corporations would "look after their workers".

Needless to say I don't share his optimism.

A perfect world is unobtainable. That's a given. But blind faith in the decency of men who will most likely have gotten to the top the dirty way isn't likely to lead to the betterment of life for the masses.

Allow me to quote your own Thomas Jefferson:

I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical.

The revolutions of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries were mostly against kings and governments.

In the future they will be against corporations.

Ok... I concede that a truly "Perfect World" would be devoid of humans... or at least the human population would be limited to the size of the human population of pre 10,000 BC... or less.

Yes, population control would be necessary ....

We could reach stasis and be happy forever and never have a need to expand beyond our current boundaries and limitations.

We don't need to remove "humans" from the world. We only need to remove the "bad humans".

Easier said than done.

Who are the "bad" humans...? I think we'd all have conflicting views on that one.

And seeing that we have evolved a very good set of human rights principles, there would be a significant legal issue with culling the human race.

We don't 'arf know how to make things difficult for ourselves, don't we...?

It was from a report of a young girl who was taken to different towns and sold as a prostitute to men. It was an investigator speaking of it, and it was basically his exact phraseology.

I wouldn't bother because she is doing what all apologists do when faced with an opposing argument, they try to shut it down! It never ceases to amaze me that the section of society that wouldn't be tolerated by those religeous zealots tend to view them as extremely misunderstood and benign. I do know one thing for sure though, if i was to start up a secular organization that had the same beliefs about women's rights and the rights of lgbt people as that religeous group has, then she would be out on the streets protesting against it. I wonder if it is respect for their invisible god or a fear of being physically harmed that stops them from criticising that religeous group.

Where your completely false argument comes from is a belief that I support what happened. I don't, never have and never will. The point I argue against with Bob is that I believe his whole motivation for constantly, endlessly, relentlessly regurgitating the same old, same old same old, over and over and over, has nothing to do with the case itself. His motivation is anti-Islamism.

Now, I'm not going to argue with whether or not Islam is a religion of hate or love. Frankly, I don't care. Being a muslim is a lawful faith that millions of people the world over practice. That is their right, their choice and their liberty.

What any of them do IN ADDITION TO BEING MUSLIMS is a matter for the law, and the LAW HAS DEALT WITH - AND IS CONTINUING TO DEAL WITH THE ROCHDALE SCANDAL.

There really is nothing more to say about the matter.

Being a muslim is fine. Being a rapist isn't. Being a muslim does not necessarily make somebody a rapist and it is wholly wrong to continue to argue in a manner that suggests all muslims are, which Bob, by his continual referring to it, does.

Try looking at what happened there as being carried out by criminals. Not muslim criminals. Just criminals.

Try it. Go on. Give it a go. I bet you can't. Why....? Because your motive for raising this point at all is anti-Islamism. And that is wrong. To brand an entire religious practice in this way....... which is what he does, no matter how much he denies it......... is wrong.

He lumps around a billion people in with the crimes of a very small few for no reason other than bigotry and hatred. That is what I object to.

It's his lack of objectivity that makes his arguments offensive, not the fact that the issue is raised at all.

Take away the Muslim element of this and he wouldn't give a s*** about it.

That's why he is (accurately) accused of bigotry.

It isn't just Rochdale though is it? There's Oxford, rochester, peterborough, newcastle, bristol and more. Those gangs systematically targeted children from communities other than their own. And the reason is that they have a very low regard for non muslim females. I worked with a muslim guy who quite bluntly used to say that 'white women are easy' and that he liked to f**k his white mistress under a photo of her with her husband and children. At the same time he ruled his actual wife and daughters with a rod of iron.At the time i just thought he was a boastful weirdo but since then, with the emergence of those grooming gangs, i've come to realize that there is something in that group of men that allows them to see non muslim girls as disposable commodities. There have been police officers that were smeared and forced to leave their jobs because they made the mistake of expecting law enforcement and city councils ( many of them Labour )to actually take the grooming of those children seriously. But it has all been brushed under the carpet. And would you answer my earlier point that if i and perhaps bob were to start up an organization that had the same attitude to women and lgbt as that religion does then would you be protesting against it's existence? The problem with 'feminists' in the West is that they squeeze the very last drop of equality out of their Western men whilst turning a blind eye to the quiet suffering of women and lgbt people in that religous group. And look how the school heads backed down over the lgbt books for kids when faced with muslim protests last year. The champions of female rights always seem to buckle when the old fashioned religous patriachy raises it's ugly head. So please answer my question, would you protest against a secular organization that disregarded rights for women and lgbt people?

Well, you've got that one completely wrong. The protesters at Sparkhill School in Birmingham didn't win. The system didn't "Back Down".

High Court Bans Protests Outside Sparkhill School

Perhaps you've been listening to too much Yaxley-Lennon propaganda.

The High Court put an exclusion zone around the school to prevent any further demonstrations taking place.

There are no more protests there, and the lessons have continued.

As I have repeated ad nauseum, the grooming gangs were criminals. The fact that they were muslims makes no difference to that fact. A criminal is a criminal be he / she black or white, christian or muslim, gay or straight.

Frankly I think the whole thing is bloody disgusting and I hope these vile creatures stay in prison for a very, very long time. I hope their sentences act as a deterrent to others.

As for how these men treat women, again, it's disgusting behaviour but white men are just as bad as black ones. The A & E department at any hospital in the country will be full of the wives of just as many white men who "Walked into the door" (usually every time their husband's football team loses. Is football a factor in abuse..?)

At university, I was very involved in women's rights and LGBT rights movements. At no time did we single any particular group out as being worse than any other. The crimes they commit are equally serious no matter who does it for whatever reason.

I was a complete and utter pain in the arse to a lot of people over these issues. I feel just as strongly about it as I ever did, but am more constrained these days in what I can and cannot do from a little town in the far flung corner of the south west. It doesn't mean I don't care any more.

But for you, it's all about race. It's all about muslims. I don't think you give a s*** about the kids who were abused. You don't care if women get beaten up by their husbands. I doubt very much you've ever lost any sleep over gays being beaten up and sometimes murdered just because they're gay.

All that matters to you is the race aspect. They're black and they're muslims and that's what you don't like.

When you start showing genuine concern for ALL women, children and other minority groups who are suffering at the hands of ALL men and other abusers, you might gain a little credibility. Until then, you'll be seen for what you are. A fraud showing fake concern just to have an opportunity to express your bigotry.

Go get a life.

no, i saw a school head being interviewed and she said that they were told to withdraw the lgbt literature in order to diffuse the situation. And i've no idea who yaxely lenno is. And, it's not about race, it's about a religeous group ( i've no concerns about Hindu or Sikh people) that have beliefs which undermine womens rights and the rights of the lgbt community. For some reason you seem ok with their prejudice against those two groups, even though you personally are a member of both groups. And i will repeat what i wrote earlier, if a group of secular men were to set up an organization that was prejudicial to the rights of women and the lgbt community, would you protest their exestence? I think you would.
