So the US is now sitting at well over 2 million infected and speeding up, twice as much as the nearest competitor and with the rest of the world slowing down. In fact, leaders and scientific experts in Europe are looking at us with horror.
And how did we get here? Simple - we have chief, who up to that point had already laid out a rapidly growing track record of science denial, who denied its threat, denied its severity, denied responsibility, denied aid and mobilization, denied the WHO, gone around breathing on everyone without a mask, organizing rallies, and prematurely declaring it defeated, leaving states with zero guidance and left fending for themselves, and politicizing the whole thing.
So now we have a huge swath of people, not to mention state leaders, who simply refuse to follow any basic medical advice in regards to the pandemic, such as wearing a mask, due to Trump’s refusal and denial of the situation.
That’s how we got here.

I grew up being glad I was born an American and was always proud of our standing and leadership throughout modern history in relation to the rest of the world. But now others look at us appallingly and are running away. We would be a laughingstock if the whole thing wasn’t so pitiful and downright scary for our (and everyone’s) future.
