I wish we had fruits & veg in our yard, we used to have Roma tomatoes in pots but I am an inconstant gardener & they all died.

It was so sad.

I seem to be better with Bromeliads.

I can't post any pictures because I lack a smartphone.

At least I've got the family computer to use.

I had to look it up ...

"Spikey" plants?

We have a few - not sure of the names off hand ("Adam's Candle", but there's a different name)

Talking 'Bout My (2nd) Generation!

The mantis egg case I found earlier this spring is hatching! ( I bought a 3-pack last year)

It must have started literally a few minutes ago. I went to check on it and there were a few of these little worm-looking things on it ... then I see they're coming out of it, then I see they have legs! and there are a lot more!!

BTW - my verbena bushes aren't stripped bare by the little black worms this year (yet?)
A result of last year's "Mantis Patrol"?

Earlier this year, the sparrows were doing it on our scrap-branch pile (which my wife now calls the Bunny Home, and I cannot clean up)
And then again, just today on our hanging plants.

Now that you mention it, I think I remember reading/hearing about that with pumpkins.

Well I did watch it on a Facebook live.

Basically bees move male pollen from a male flower into a female flower, and you get a baby squash.

But if the bees are not fast enough and as a gardener you want to help the process along, you can take off a male flower unwrap his pollen maker and deposit that directly into the female flower. And hope you get a baby.

At that point there was lots of bow chicka bow bow and the conversation went off the rails.

I’m sure we’ll find out soon if it worked. He lives every morning from his garden.
