So what the f*** are y'all doing while on lockdown?

Are you still working? considered "essential" and having to go out the house as normal, or working from home?

or did you get laid off? or one of the ones that picked up more work in the past few weeks?

I'm working from home, it feels like 12 hour days for 20 days straight. though.

i don't really like that word "essential" in this situation. I mean I understand what they are getting at, there is just something about that feels s***ty about it, when just a little while ago, many were like "f*** those people, they have jobs that are beneath us, and are losers." Well, damn, it's them that are keeping s*** together right now. And there are a few million/billionaires running around giving no f***s acting like their so important when really, we might be better off if they just shut the f*** up and stop making it worse.

I'm all for positivity and law of attraction and getting back what you put out, but some people just get dealt a s***ty hand through no fault of their own, and its doesn't do any one any good to insist it must be karmically their fault.

We have 5 acres...

> I stay outside most days until sunset. I like photographing insects and the wild flowers are coming up, so theirs that.

> I'm testing a language app... I doing Italian & German. Both because I already speak Italian, so I can sort of "test" the effectiveness of the program by looking at what I know and/or need refreshing in Italian vs starting from scratch with German.

> Guitar practice 1 to 3 hours a day.

> Daily meditation.

> Weights every other day.

> Booze from 4:30 to 8 (roughly)

> Grimm TV show for two episodes.

I'm in IT for a manufacturing company.
We are a supplier to healthcare, transportation and oil/gas companies, so we're still up and running.

The offices are closed and people are working from home, but the shop floor is still working.
They've implemented some changes for distancing - shifting shifts, breaks and lunch hours to minimize crowds and contact.

I'm on the "back-end" of IT - dealing with infrastructure and servers. So my big push was at the beginning to re-align our resources for the sudden increase in demand for Work From Home capabilities (VDI). But it's getting back to "normal" now.
A number of co-workers are on the front lines of support for all of the newbies to this "Work from Home" stuff (equipment, access rights, VPN, VDI). They are still pretty busy.

So I'm still working 8-9 hour days. The only extra time I'm seeing is from not traveling to/from work.

My son is home finishing his last semester of college on-line.

But, none-the-less, I've been running out almost every day to hunt for things that didn't come in the grocery delivery, or for meals (or "While I'm out" )

And, I've curtailed my door-handle licking habit for awhile - those disinfectant cleaners taste nasty.

I have taken to writing an amusing series of random, increasingly insane sounding posts across multiple formats. It keeps me entertained.

I also stole one of my neighbour's goats (the pretty one), because it promises to be a long cold winter.

How are you guys all holding up?

Well. I’ve finally learned how to make a drinkable cup of coffee without hurting myself animals or small appliances.

And I finally slept more than 5 hours in a row. So yay. Now to just get used to the new normal.

I suspect it’s going to go on for the long haul rather than til Easter. So I’m planning accordingly.
I miss people though. Zoom is just not the same. Though I can host meetings if, so I might do something more social than just work because I miss people.

Anyone interested in a zoom/skype/whatever TFS-BS session? Audio preferred, video optional?

It's not like there's thousands of us to overwhelm a site, or impossible to schedule....

I'm pretty sure I have a skype account under this nom de guerre

I work in a greenhouse, indoor agriculture situation.
I manage a medium sized legal marijuana grow in N. Cali.

All the other people have been sent home. I'm working ... but I'm alone. Just me and the girls.
I kinda like it - because I don't like people. No, I really don't.
But, it's long days because I'm doing everyone's work ... including mine.

I won't need people till next turn, and that's in about five weeks. Hope things are in better shape then.

I know you and I argue about everything but I genuinely hope you and your family/loved ones etc., are ok. From what we hear in the convict colony things are dicey in your neck of the woods.
Stay safe.

And you too. All differences aside, stay safe and take care. Hostilities can resume at a later date, on different topics.

Truly, I hope you and your family are well. Best wishes.
