Psalm 103:1-2 King James Version (KJV)

1 Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

A friend of mine says that to bless means to make happy. I suppose that means that even God can have a bad day. After all, he's God. He can do anything.

I have heard that a former Pope, the last one named Benedict, didn't like to speak English because the words have extra letters. For example, thought: the ough could be a single letter.

I've been through severe depression in the past
so trust me I don't like seeing people depressed
but I also learned how important it was not to mislead people and
preach that this is all a candy land while so many out there do truly suffer

The same for whomever is responsible for this world; I'm positive they are not the be all end all of wisdom in eternal space and I think too many people are leaning on an undisclosed host for a sense of security when they should be learning how to emotionally and psychologically lean on only themselves.

What if it turns out all around you are enemy and only you are the good protagonist?

What if this is not a world made a by good god but rather a faked virtual environment established for the sake of brainwashing?

Do not let your spirits down but do not let your guard down either.

At this point, as a Christian, I think I am supposed to quote: Matthew 11:28

Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

It is a bit of an ironic thing to say, because around here being a Christian is a lot of work, feeding the food-less, clothing the clothes-less, and de feeting the feetless,

1st - Welcome back Ghyda... you have been missed.

2nd - Your faith is admirable... that is, of course "your" faith, not necessarily that which you have faith in.

3rd - As "his" creation, shouldn't "he" bless you? I mean... if I had the "power" I would certainly "bless" my children.

Just a thought.

I think I'm responsible for my happiness, but I'm not sure if I get that from Christianity.

Christians do believe that Jesus and joy somehow go together. Ancient pagans thought that the gods caused trouble. For example, when Helen tried to apologize for causing the Trojan War, King Priam blamed it on "the gods."

Modern Christians do as well. We have a new bartender; but he serves the same barflies, something like in The Iceman Cometh by Eugene O'Neal.

And thus I am a believer/follower of the original trinity... the Great Sky God, the Mother Earth and the Cave Bear...

They do not confuse "us" with the causes of happiness nor wars... they neither provide nor accept "blame".

Yes but whatever is responsible for this simulacrum subjected us to that strife in the first place so is this not slapping us with one hand so we will run to the other for comfort

And then when we trust the other hand for some time will we be willing to honor its suggested jailing of homosexuals and others in uncanny predicaments. Will we condone it's preaching to reinstate apartheid's and segregation - not only among races but among subscribers to the one 'true' faith which encourages elitism, hierarchy and ostracizing?

Should I constantly impress a god or its creations whom have done nothing to impress me let alone explain why their world and their concerns have been made mine as well?

I don't know about you but I am not from around here and answer to a higher wisdom.

A wisdom that speaks directly to the self and is not intercepted then redelivered by sermon who pack in agendas established by rich and selfish men.

Were I a preacher I would only instruct that most already 'know' better and need to quit second guessing themselves. And as a man who favors science I would encourage any of my propositions to not only be challenged but improved and expanded upon thus desiring advancement in understanding moreso than simply being 'right'

Jesus must have been right when he said, "In the world ye shall have tribulation ..."

but he also said, "... in me you might have peace."

Is this like in the Earth's Children sextet by Jean Auel?

Yes.

Suffering is a recurring motif in religion, mythology, philosophy, art, literature... life and the expression thereof.

Well that alone suggests surrendering to a hidden dictatorship operated by a secret society who will impede your way if you do not live your life by their sense of 'right'

And I believe that is organized religion in a nutshell even though its subscribers don't realize how they accidentally serve such a cult

In my more faithful theories as to why this world is; it serves as asylum, rehabilitation and study center working with people of special needs from an outside world whether they suffer a physical handicap or convicted as criminally insane. The prisoners held in Hell's Hell never have a chance at psycho-emotional development; waking each morning to bars and memories of the crimes they committed. Remove those latter two and you have a fresh man ready to make a new start in co-operation with their fellow inmates.
