My probable run up to the holiday (based on previous experience):

Go to school Christmas concert.

Go to school Nativity Play.

Go to school Christmas Fayre.

Move all my belongings to school and live there. It'd be easier.

Buy Christmas jumper for school Christmas jumper day (includes donation to local charity for the privilege of wearing something I had to pay for in order to support somebody else's 'Good Idea' ).

Bake a shedload of mince pies for various other events.

Bake own mince pies for eating at home. If I'm ever there.

Buy a card and gift for daughter to give to lollypop lady at the school crossing.

Buy daughter's teacher a Christmas gift for daughter to give her. Vodka should do the trick.

Buy self a bottle of vodka. And drink it.

Buy ALL things Christmas that are put before me.

Sponsor ALL things Christmas that daughter is involved in.

Take a big heap of pound coins to school and throw them randomly around the playground just in case I missed buying or sponsoring anything.

Something about a Jesus themed fancy dress contest... or was that just a bad dream?

Bring in eyeballs on skewers for PTA Christmas raffle.

Donate a kidney to school Christmas hamper for local hospital.

Collapse into an exhausted sleep sometime just before midnight on 24 December.

If the run up to your Christmas is anything like mine, then I wish you the very best of luck.

And with all that, do you know something.... I LOVE Christmas.

I like Christmas songs.

And

I'll look at lights.

Hopefully, I can see Pope Francis give his Mass on Youtube.

on every Christmas eve awhile, taking a bath and watching " it's wonderful life " on tv in my bathroom. eating prunes in the tub, and farting bubbles in the bathtub. of course, farting those popular Christmas songs like jingle bells, silent night, and grandma ran over santa's sledge. of course, all that farting and egg nog that I drink in the tub. I passed out, because I really a lot of gases in the tub. merry Christmas, may the fart be with you!

1. Attempt to ignore any and all things Christmas, until Dec 1st.

2. Then get the mood by listening to A Child's Christmas in Wales by Dylan Thomas.

3. Then “it” all falls into place in its proper order.

I thought, at least, you get a Christmas tree. then put your blue dress over the branches. then you would decorate your dress with your Christmas's bulbs and junk have to put around your dress and tree.

maybe this year, your dress will go up flames, because your christmas lights over it, and the tree goes up with flames like last year.

chaski- you know that jews had the moses and the burning bush, not Christians.

We've done those burn-out Christmas seasons - running everywhere, seeing everything, midnight shopping and on and on.

We're much more quiet these days.

I bought corgi Christmas yoga pants.

My routine has been totally different every year for the past 5-7 years. So it’s hard to know what’s normal anymore.

then fly out to Arizona to visit my in-laws and celebrate their 75 wedding anniversary..then go spend some time with my clan on the reservation

Then fly up to Colorado to spend the rest of the season with my parents and celebrate their 70th anniversary...

Getting used to my new Workforce 4730. It should arrive on Wednesday.

Planning visits to other parts of Madrid. I need to broaden my horizons.

Scanning and recreating old family photos. They're beginning to fade.

Dropping my weight back down to 68 kg. I was very overweight until this week.

When I was a girl we had a Great Dane. Pure breed Harlequin He was the family pet, but really, he was my doggie. I was the one who put his food out for him and took him for walks. I was the one he used to sit by the front door and wait for every afternoon when I came home from school.

We had him from a puppy. Dad named him Dino, after Fred Flintstones' pet dinosaur.

He grew to an enormous size (I made sure he was well fed. LOL) and he had such a character. The stories I could tell about him.

But we lost him in the end. As often happens with Danes, when they get old, their legs are no longer strong enough to bear their body bulk and he was suffering. Dad made the decision.

I went to the vet's with him and helped him onto the table. He looked at me and licked my hand. He knew. It was his time.

I couldn't bear to stay. I think I cried for weeks. I don't think anything has ever hurt me like that did.

This is why I can't have another dog. I couldn't bear that pain again.

Sorry to be so maudlin. But I do think of him sometimes and then I pick up one of the cats (If they'll let me. They usually scarper when they see me coming. lol)

Cats are different.

We'll put our deccies up tomorrow and Jerry will attack the tree like he always does. He never seems to get the message that what he's seeing in the baubles is himself, not some interloper on his turf.

Pets eh....?? Who'd have 'em..?
