Polling since the October 15 debate shows Biden retaking the lead over Warren by an average of 5.4 percentage points. Sanders has also gotten a smaller boost, as well as Buttigieg, but both still trail Warren. Harris continues to slip and is now 5th behind Buttigieg.

Also Klobuchar has gained a small boost as well, and in fact today it was announced as the 9th candidate to qualify for the November 20, 2019 debate.

Qualified
Joe Biden
Elizabeth Warren
Bernie Sanders
Kamala Harris
Pete Buttigieg
Tom Steyer
Andrew Yang
Cory Booker
Amy Klobuchar

While I know she won’t win, I want Amy to remain in the running for as long as possible, because I believe she would be the ideal running mate for Joe Biden, for several reasons, namely, she is a moderate/centrist like Biden, would be replaced in the Senate by a Democrat governor, she can carry the Midwest, carry the female vote, and is a younger backup to the aging Biden.

In October Debate, but Yet to Qualify for November Debate
Beto O’Rourke
Julian Castro
Tulsi Gabbard

Beto needs to get the f*** out of the race and run for Senator in Texas, as it would go a long ways towards flipping the chamber to the Democrats in time for a Democrat President, whoever it is.

Why the f*** Are These People Still Running?
Marianne Williamson
Michael Bennett
Steve Bullock
Tim Ryan
John Delaney
Wayne Messam
Joe Sestak

Candidates have until November 13 to qualify and must receive 3% of polling in 4 separate qualifying polls or 5% in 2 separate qualifying early voting state polls, as well as certain donor thresholds.

I'd certainly consider Bloomberg.

I don't think it will shift any core trumpers, but it might excite a few more people to turn out and vote.

If enough candidates stay in, Ohio primaries may actually matter - though being on St. Patrick's Day this year ... could be interesting results!

Does it have to be either or?

Maybe the buzz will make you relaxed and then a lever pull for erngeman wouldn’t sting so bad.

Is it ever anything different?

Only two real choices.

I voted for the cheap bottle of wine the last time.

Sure, I’d consider him too. Too bad he’s late, though. And yet another old entree. At this point, he’s probably more useful spending his billions on whoever the nominee is or against Trump. Which he may still do even if he isn’t the nominee.

Looks like Bloomberg is throwing his hat in. Guess last night’s debate performance by Biden didn’t inspire him.

Although I think Buttigieg has a leg up on replacing Biden as the leading moderate at this point.

But will the DNC run interference against Buttigieg the way things were tilted against Sanders in favor of Clinton?

Sanders probably could have won against Trump in 2016.

Short answer: No. The DNC made rules changes after that, namely getting rid of all those superdelegates.

However, it will still be messy. With so many candidates still around and a couple of months away from the first primaries, chances are we will end up with several candidates getting early delegates who will later drop out. Some will endorse others, some will be free to vote for whoever they want to, different states have different rules on how those delegates will then vote, etc, etc, etc.

Unless the field narrows considerably or coalesces before Iowa, but that doesn’t look to happen. In fact, we are getting additions instead of subtractions.

I agree with you on your last statement.

How about prison reform? Anyone? The US has a serious problem with its incarceration of its citizens. We’re doing it wrong!

President Trump already did that..

First Step Act
The Formerly Incarcerated Reenter Society Transformed Safely Transitioning Every Person Act or First Step Act reforms the federal prison system of the United States of America, and seeks to reduce recidivism. An initial version of the bill passed the House of Representatives on May 22, 2018; a revised bill passed the U.S. Senate on December 18, 2018. The House approved the bill with Senate revisions on December 20, 2018. The act was signed by President Donald Trump on December 21, 2018, before the end of the 115th Congress. The act, among many provisions, retroactively applies the Fair Sentencing Act, allows for employees to store their firearms securely at federal prisons, restricts the use of restraints on pregnant women, expands compassionate release for terminally ill patients, places prisoners closer to family in some cases, authorizes new markets for Federal Prison Industries, mandates de-escalation training for correctional officers and employees, and improves feminine hygiene in prison.

And he had that meet and greet with the Kardashian/West family.

It's an uphill climb for sure. Other countries with lower incarceration rates (Singapore) have very strict laws and I'm not sure Americans (right now) have an appetite for what's needed.
