So, on the topic of "god choosing jesus"...
To be
fair, based not he dogma god and jesus are one and the same.
That is, there is
god as the over all one and only god.... Then there is the
division of god into three entities: the
father, the
son and the
holy spirit. These three parts of god are in fact the one
god.
So, in "picking" jesus for sacrifice
god essentially selected himself. (Way over simplifying it) the idea is that
god took a part of himself and created "it" in a human form, so that
god could experience the human condition (including sin) and thus be sacrificed to save all humans (or at least the one's willingly accepting the salvation).
Now, there are a lot of flaws to that entire set up... and 'it" has caused a lot of confusions in christians (both in general and in relation to the various christian sects). None the less, it is essential to understand that "jesus" is actually a part of (or manifestation of) not "the
father but rather a manifestation of
god in "his" unified totality.
So, asking if "the Father have chosen the cross for himself?" doesn't really make any sense.
God did in fact choose himself... "he" chose a specific manifestation of "himself" to accomplish a particular mission... goal.

Of course the entire thing is standard mythological motif, so beyond the metaphorical it is nonsense that has confused "christians" for the better part of the last 2000 years.
A starting point might even be:
>
Why would an infinite god be limited to only three (3) aspects of "himself" in which to manifest "himself"?
OR
>
If "god" so loved the world (i.e. humans)
Why did he have to create three manifestation of himself, then have one (i.e. the father)
have to impregnate a human woman to create a male child, which had to be sacrificed by some humans in order to offer salvation to all humans?
One would think that a infinite all knowing all powerful perfect god, would be able come up with a similar solution to the
problem.
The
problem being, of course,
SIN
..."sin" which god created in the first place.

Honestly, the reincarnation idea makes much more sense... that is:
>>>
You stupid humans are going to keep living in anguish, despair and suffering, over and over and over again... until you figure out how to use your freewill and god given brain to behave yourselves, at which point you will get to come home to the peace, love and light that is your god...
etc.
(Sorry... way over simplified all that.)
