Good morning Leon.
Just need to take a moment and say thanks for your even-handed approach. I have no slings and no arrows. Here just to chat and probably not for long.
Joe is okay.
Mr Trump was my last best choice in 2016. That said I do feel that the country is ideologically fractured and I don't feel as though Mr Trump is always the help. Policy wise, I'm okay with Trump as at least he nods to certain things I think are important. He's a mixed bag on a personal level with the multiple wives and blue humor. Trump isn't trying to curb spending and that's gonna bite us.
Even on the best of days I wouldn't wear the red hat and most of the time I gravitate toward Trump when I have to defend him against wild and utterly insane allegations. (Gutfeld - Trump is worse than Hitler, Stalin, and Mao) -- yeah okay
I'm away from home which means away from my wife which means I'm not as moody. All of that is changing again so who knows maybe I'll end up volunteering in a militia there in Florida or some trash (probably not though I'm too much of a loner) DON'T PANIC YALL I'M NOT PLANNING ANYTHING!!
But Joe Biden is an overall decent guy pretty much. He's had some heartache on a personal level and maybe he won't swing the country too far left with free healthcare or hate speech laws. He probably doesn't have a plan to destroy capitalism or overthrow the banks.
Joe is the best I can offer.
And ---
he's funny. He's not George W Bush funny but dang this man knows how to wreck a speech and good.
Thanks for your straight up and direct answer. I’ll try and respond in kind here...
The thing that scares me the most about Trump is his overall focus on the present at the expense of our long term well being. You touched upon it up there with spending, but it’s more than just that. It’s the tax cuts, record setting deficits, disregard for our voting security, dismantling of our healthcare system, willingness to gut Social Security and Medicare to prevent a recession, de-regulation of environmental safety standards, climate recklessness, stoking of racial division, tariff war, desire to reduce the Fed rate when it isn’t needed, weakened alliances with our traditional allies, gullibility to despots, and foresaken treaties.
We all should have known that someone who made it up the ladder by pretty much doing just that - borrowing and spending for short term gain and declaring bankruptcy afterwards with almost regularity - would probably approach the position with the same shortsighted mindset. Why we thought otherwise is beyond me, especially in hindsight, and if we re-elect him, we haven’t opened our eyes and learned our lesson on that.
I get that you are scared of what the progressives are saying. But trust me, it isn’t as scary as those in your circles are painting it to be. Progressives are not in favor of eradicating capitalism, which you state they are. We will not turn into the Soviet Union, Venenzuela, North Korea, or Cuba. Democratic socialism in Western Europe is still run under a free capitalist system of economy. In fact, they really are not socialist by the strictest definition of the word - where all means of production, distribution, and exchange are government owned and run (like what you see in North Korea or the Soviet Union). They are only called that because they have universal safety net measures in place which are a feature in the socialist countries, like we do with Social Security and K-12 education. These include such additional things as universal health care, free college education, and greater forms of welfare. But this is not the same thing as saying that capitalism is outlawed. They don’t really even have anything to do with one another. So you can breathe a little here. Elizabeth Warren will still let you open your business and reap its profits.
P.S. Joe Biden is fine with me too.
