I disagree that Bernie and Elizabeth are identical. Yes they are both most progressive than Biden (but really that’s not hard to be). There is a strong group of Bernie supporter that are willing to pitch a fit and stay home if he doesn’t win. Which is their right and all, but honestly after 2016, I don’t have the same faith in a Bernie campaign follow through with the votes.
Personally though, I’m happy enough with any of the 10 now that win the nomination, but mostly it’s a reaction that I have actual anxiety over the outcome of another Trump term might literally lead to the death or or life impacting consequences (like not being able to persue life, liberty, or happiness consequences) on my friends or family.
They are identical in their approach to the major issues, such as their largely anti-corporate/democratic socialist message, universal health care, free university education, Green Deal-like environmental overhaul, etc. I’m sure if you dig into the finer details of each of their plans, you will find differences. But details change anyways once legislation filters through Congress and into its final negotiated form on the President’s desk. Big picture-wise, though, they are the same, and I don’t think progressives from one camp will find much to complain about with the other camp. They certainly were complimentary of each other in their last debate.
As far as their constituencies, I do agree that if Bernie followers feel burned by what happens to the Bern, like in 2016, they will be angry. Which is why if it becomes clear that Warren is going to gain the edge (which appears to be the case), instead of dragging this out all the way to the convention like in 2016, Bernie should take one for the cause EARLY and declare that Warren holds the same ideals and we should therefore all get behind her instead. Then I think followers would listen. Bernie would be better serving progressives this way, in both championing the cause rather than himself, and better ensuring it wins over the moderate alternative, if that is what they really want.
Personally, though, I do agree with you that any of the 10 is fine with me, as they all approach the issues from the same slant, and, more than anything else, any is definitely better than the catastrophe we have in Oval Office today.
