I think the Eagle began feeling as though some on TFS were going over the top in political and/or religious attacks.
Of course we're not supposed to "talk" about past members, but I don't mean anything bad about or towards Eagle.
I have always had only the most positive opinion of Eagle.
He might well be correct. We have lost some extreme right wing and/or extreme religious types. For me that is sad. I personally like the banter. But some of those people did in fact cross the proverbial line. Of course there are also people who are extremely left and/or extremely anti-religion here. I hope Eagle did not view me as one of the worst that drove him away, but maybe I have been.
Such is life... on the internet.
TFS has lost its luster for some.
I have wondered at TFS's survival... metaphorically speaking TFS is the last of a species of large mammal... when "we" fall into extinction, as is inevitable, we will be missed by few if any.
Yeah this place did change. I no doubt played a part in that as I stopped engaging in the banter after Dave left. I was warned not to get involved in debating a certain person here and in hindsight the one that warned me was right. It sucked up a lot of my time and gave me forum fatigue, then when I came back almost everyone had left...
I thought these types of forums might have got a boost when FarceBook and other places increased their censorious ways, but it seems not to have happened at all. Shame.
Still, I have to admit were it not for the fact that I was laid up for a few months after a serious health issue, I would ever have joined a forum. It was something I did purely as a means of distracting myself from the hours I would normally have spent body building or playing sport.
TFS was incredibly important to me then, because as someone who had always been physically active, suddenly I was unable to do more than walk for a few minutes a day. A new guitar, lots of bourbon and TFS helped keep me sane.
