Here, we introduce a CRISPR/Cas9-based core processor that enables different sets of user-defined guide RNA inputs to program a single transcriptional regulator (dCas9-KRAB) to perform a wide range of bitwise computations, from simple Boolean logic gates to arithmetic operations such as the half adder. Furthermore, we built a dual-core CPU combining two orthogonal core processors in a single cell.

Wait .. What ?? ...

In principle, human cells .... could offer enormous computational capacity.

Two recent local stories:

Airport info system clobbered by Malware.

Local church e-mail-scammed (Phished) out of nearly $2 mil

Of course media hollers HACKERS!!!

...IMHO "Hackers" are people that make an effort to break through security systems... firewalls, OS/App holes, etc

Malware and Phishing are in another category... but "Hackers" sounds so much more glamorous.

I can't give s*** to whoever made the change to the bank account info (church), or clicked on that malicious link (airport?)... presuming they've had no prior training/warnings, etc. Ignorance is what the bad actors prey upon.

For several weeks, North Olmsted residents reported their electronic key fob devices and garage door openers had stopped working. Visitors also had issues when they entered the area.

Oops!

Innocent mistake exposes malicious potential.

A Germany-based Chinese programmer said he and some friends have identified 100k porn actresses from around the world, cross-referencing faces in porn videos with social media profile pictures. The goal is to help others check whether their girlfriends ever acted in those films.

Speaking of facial recognition:

"The best way to avoid breaches of sensitive personal data is not to collect and retain such data in the first place."

Images and data collected by the Customs and Border Patrol was copied to a contractors network, violating protocol, which was then hacked ... sounds a little fishy to me.

Hmm.... this isn't necessarily Paranoia, maybe gullibility, blind "faith", mindless following/dependence ....

Or maybe Karma ("Carma" )

Recalculating

The alternate route took drivers down a dirt road that rain had turned into a muddy mess, and cars started sliding around.
Some vehicles couldn't make it through the mud, and about 100 others became trapped behind them.

Galileo, the EU's global navigation satellite system, has been down for four days, since July 11, following a mysterious outage. All Galileo satellites are still non-operational, at the time of writing.

The US Navy will replace the touchscreen throttle and helm controls currently installed in its destroyers with mechanical ones starting in 2020 The move comes after the National Transportation Safety Board released an accident report from a 2017 collision, which cites the design of the ship’s controls as a factor in the accident.

he (Rear Admiral Bill Galinis) described the controls as falling under the “‘just because you can doesn’t mean you should’ category,”

Biometric Data breach.

Time to change your face and fingerprints!

Suprema, a company describing itself as a "global Powerhouse in biometrics, security and identity solutions," with a product range that "includes biometric access control systems, time and attendance solutions, fingerprint live scanners, mobile authentication solutions and embedded fingerprint modules."

Almost 28 million records across more than 23 gigabytes of data—records they claim include "fingerprint data, facial recognition data, face photos of users, unencrypted usernames and passwords, logs of facility access, security levels and clearance, and personal details of staff."

Why the paranoia.

Technology is amazing.

Back in the olden days computers were monolithic (well the Kernels still are, on some systems) and needed punch cards. Look at them now.

I remember when I watched the film Stealth (amazing film), and now the Americans have the Loyal Wingman program. Its like "Dude my fantasies are becoming a reality).

And the Russians have that awesome Terminator wannabe robot, damn that thing is awesome.

Plus go buy some Parrot drones, and see what you can do with some Python code and some swarming, damn that s*** is neat.

Damn, technology makes me hard bro.
