Not to be some formal, rules laden debate, but more of a bulls*** session around the pool table with a few beers ....

Hypothesis: A war would hurt Trumps' re-election possibilities.
Not because of the war, but because it will expose more of his true self.

Will he be a child and want to "Push The Button!! I Want To Push The Button!!"

Will he scurry away on his bone spurs somehow?

What ever he does, nobody should believe his excuse anyways.

And then we'll see what the voters think...

And of course the Dems will push "The War" issue anyways...

I think that war would be good for a Trump re-election.

1. Iran is supper evil bad... NUKE THEM!

2. The Afghanistan war could be won "in a week"... NUKE THEM!

3. Trump's base doesn't care what he does... HILLARY!

it is irony that Reagan is the one that we know he was a war monger, and he want looking for a war. bozo doesn't need a war to start a war, and he would use any vechile create a way to be re-elect. bozo is like peter seller as dr. Strangelove.

His "big, bad" talk and war mongering is certainly good to rile up his base. But what if push came to shove?

I'm with gakINGKONG on this one, Trump doesn't have an itchy trigger finger.

He is a s*** talker and a liar, but he is also a coward.

I don't think he would push the button even if it was somehow the necessary and right thing to do. Trump just doesn't have the cojones.

More importantly, I don't think our military leaders would allow Trump to push the button agasint any country let alone Afghanistan.

Now, getting into a protracted conventional war with Iran... that is something I could see Trump doing as a sort of knee jerk reaction to some alleged/perceived/real Iranian provocation... not out of a thoughtful decision mind you, but strictly as a moment of boastful I AM THE GREATEST action... after all, he nearly did it a week or so ago...

...but then he backed off... why?

I think Trump figured out he's being manipulated by those who want a war. The attacks on the tankers were not mines, they were rockets. One of the crew members stated he saw rockets, the press ridiculed him and will not republish that story. The rocket attacks at the Saudi Aramco plant on the Gulf were extremely accurate ( 17 out of 19 hits ) and the damage in the pictures look exactly like those on the tankers. Iran does not have the technical capability to make a strike like that. Presidents don't make the decision to go to war. When JFK declined to start the draft to escalate the conflict in Vietnam he was forcibly removed from office. The first thing LBJ did was - start the draft.

Yeah, I'm kind of mixed on the pullout from Syria.

Yes, it would be nice to get out of those conflicts, but it does seem we are turning our backs on the Kurds ... again.

Then Trump fires off his next threat to Turkey.

I agree; to pull out from Syria and leave the Kurds hanging is bad. ISIS has modeled itself after an apocryphal cult from the Koran. It's hard to tell what's going on in Trump's head. let alone the puppet master pulling his strings but I would say this. Trump is starting to act a little crazy like the Shah of Iran did.

There you have it; Turkey is attacking the Kurds. The Kurds are descended from ancient races in the Middle East like the Jews are. Note the topic in the Religion section on "Did Wandering Jews create the Bible." It is possible that some powers believe wiping out the Kurds would be beneficial to them as wiping out the Jews.

The Kurds should have known better than to trust us; the USA.

We suck.
