So you want Trump to win.

No. You weren't paying attention.

What I was saying was:

1. From a political strategic/tactical perspective the Dems need the H.R. & the Senate more than the Presidency.

2. I don't think the Dems have a candidate who can win, so, again the Dems need the H.R. & the Senate more than the Presidency.

3. If, and I believe it a huge "IF", the Dems win with Bernie, I think his presidency will ultimately be a failed presidency.

4. If, and I believe it a huge "IF", the Dems win with Biden, I think his presidency will a one term presidency.

And, relative to all of that I think our economy is going to tank in the next few years. If that does happen, whoever is the President is going to get the blame. So...

5. If there is a Democrat President, he/she will get the blame for the failed economy and we will end up with another Republican President... AND we could even end up with Trump again in 2028 (though age might be prohibitive in that regard).

NO I don't want Trump to be our president.

What I really thing is going to happen is that Trump is going to win and the Republicans are going to maintain control of the Senate.

Do I want that? No.

Is it what I see happening? Yes.

IF there was somehow a trade off of like: Trump wins, but the Dems take control of the H.R. and the Senate... that would be a good option.

Bottom line, repeating myself, the Democrats don't have a long game. They don't have a candidate that will win. If he/she wins it will be a one term presidency, with the Republicans coming back in 2024. More judges going to the Republicans. More f__ked up foreign policy. More f__ked up domestic policy. More damage to the USA as a country.

Do I want all that to happen? No.

Do I think it is lily to happen? Yes.

Trump wins 2020 or another Republican (maybe even Trump again) wins 2024.

Just being a realist here.

To override a Presidential veto, 67 votes would be needed in the Senate and a two thirds majority in the House.

Yes... blah blah blah...

@Leon Said

Nor will the Senate have a DNC majority

They won't for two reasons:

1. It isn't in their playbook.

2. The Democrat party is a divide party.

@Leon Said

So, sorry, my friend, no matter how you slice it, nothing will get done for another 4 years if Trump is re-elected, unless somehow miraculously the GOP also regains the House.

Sorry, my friend, you are wrong.

If Trump gets re-elected, he will continue to place extremely conservative justices at all levels of the Judiciary and most likely in the Supreme Court.

This is and has been the Republican plan since 2016. It is the only reason the Republican politicians support Trump. They want complete control of the Supreme Court.

There only one way to block that: The Democrats need to get control of the Senate, which won't happen because they can't focus on what is important.

Get ready for 4 more years of Trump and possibly a virtual complete control of the Supreme Court that will last for decades.

Not because I want it... but because the Democrats are going to essentially hand it to him

I meant legislation.

Yes....

Congress >>> Legislation
President >>> veto
Congress to override >>>> 67 votes would be needed in the Senate and a two thirds majority in the House... etc.

There, in my view is still a benefit to passing legislation (especially if it is "good" legislation) even if the President is going to veto. Congress holds the purse strings. Yes a president can shut down the government, but if Congress is passing "good" (especially if it is bipartisan or close to bipartisan) they are in a strong negotiating position. Trump could literally kill the Republic party by shutting down the government too long... again, assuming that the legislation passed was "good" and "reasonable".

But again, the Trump presidency has ultimately been about one thing: Judges.

The Dems can't stop that without the Senate.

And yes, that would suggest that a Democrat president would be a better choice... unless the economy tanks in the years between 2020 - 2024, in which case we would likely get a Republican president in 2024.

etc (I would repeat myself with all the other stuff....)

It is quite the conundrum: Thus my opinion that it will be 50 years before the USA recovers... meanwhile the world moves on with the clear message that the USA is not going lead in any issue other than war and strife in the M.E.

The golden age of China begins...

And my point is getting 67 to override a veto in today’s Senate climate (even if a few seats change in 2020) is a pipe dream. Sure, people can try, but it won’t happen. Hell, the GOP had trouble even getting 50 votes together on the Obamacare repeal when they had a majority and Trump’s backing. And you’re asking for 17 more on a major piece of legislation?

And my point is that it is a pipe dream because the Democrat party has no unified message, no united strategy and not unified set of tactics.

The GOP never really wanted to get rid of Obamacare. That was a political ruse to target the Obama administration and dupe conservative American voters.

And no, I and not "asking for 17 more on a major piece of legislation". I am saying that the goal of the Democrat party should be:

1. Keep the House, preferably building on the majority numbers.
2. Win the Senate, preferably in the largest numbers possible.
3. Continue through the next mid-terms and the 2024 election to build the number so that ultimately it doesn't matter who is president.

Can it be done in one election? NO.

Can it be done over time? Yes.

But "you" have to plan for it... build a long game.

But even a simple majority could block Trump's judicial picks, and that is the most important issue right now.

Even if the Dems were 100% unified and in lockstep in everything, at least 15 GOPers would still need to join them for a veto override. Not going to happen.

Alright. But I was talking specifically about getting legislation passed during Trump’s second term. In that nothing will.
