Laïcité/secularism is the future of religions. Are you pro or con?

The good news is that comparing world religions for the sake of expansion won't have lasting effect.

It isn't enough for me to point out why my neighbor's lifestyle isn't trustworthy. I have to live in such a way that proves my lifestyle is better.

To your first. It lasted for Christianity so far. Christianity has always resisted change for the better and did not compare their ideology to the Cathars for instance, who had a better ideology. They just decimated them.

To your last. The Cathars did just that but Christianity had the political power to murder whoever they liked. Disliked that is.

I get around but not to your extent.

I have yet to try either, but disagree in principle.

I think a goat would shake off such an assault quite quickly but a child would not and that would make an assault on a child worse than on a goat.

The other poster's reference to goat sex was idiotic... in my response I was being sarcastic.

Are you for laïcité/secularism or against it?

Against it

There's not enough psychiatrists in the world to manage all of the people who were suddenly turning into robots otherwise

Organized religion is also preventing a lot of secret cults from forming as well.

EDIT: I read that wrong - I thought you meant the banning of organized religion all together

I'm all for keeping church and state as far apart as possible. I'm tired of having to go without beer on Easter or told that Sunday is a bad day to conduct business....it's as silly as the "no hotdog bun" on Friday's taboo parodied in The Principa Discordia.

Sounds good. And I agree Hitler was mostly in a league of his own. His policy wasn’t based on theism or atheism, more than simple psychopathic insanity.

A PBS show about Hitler's personal doctor said that Adolf was given a vitamin shot every morning before he got out of bed. One of the ingredients in the shot was meth. Just before his death, Hitler was getting up to three shots a day. A meth head with a powerful army; what could go wrong?

Vitamin M... one of the best!

Side note: In the US military motrin (ibuprofen) is called Vitamin M by some ... i've heard Caffeine called Vitamin C, or the other vitamin C, and Sugar called Vitamin S... something like the military runs on a high calorie diet supplemented with Vitamins C, M & S...

When I was young it was sometimes said that the the military (leadership) was run a 3 martini lunch.

Yet secular states are where all free countries are going.

Just look at the E U and other Western nations as well as most other nations.

They are not as advanced as France and Quebec, but they are all leaning to that side.

I think the world will get fed up with being under oligarch rule and will soon reach what Socrates called a Timocratic system where people focus on and rule for duty and honor.

We would have to modernize his description of such a government though to where it is a blend odf democracy and what some call socialistic programs like state paid health care and education.

That's good and there's noting wrong with mixing Capitalism and Socialism

The main reason that Socialism exists is to protect those whose politics, religions and gender associations are not popular with the herd.

Sure most will insist that systems in place are fair by those who work them properly but we also know that their sense of 'wrong' are gays, marijuana users, (ironically) philanthropists or those who suggest that one should be free to do and express themselves in any way they please as long as not a detriment to the well being of others.

As is now the system has been captured, horded and used against those who don't share the same sense of right & wrong. Used to egotistically force idealisms and politics no matter how antiquated or obsolete.

ie If you're not recognized as a Christian it is very difficult to find or keep a job here in NZ.

Still to this day a person can deny commerce with you or employment due to bias AND still get away with it as long as they can find some other excuse as to why they turned you away.

I know of no socialist or communistic country.

I do know that we all live in oligarchies and 8in the free world, we call those democracies with social programs. Not socialism.

Socialist and communist regimes would control their demographic shapes and keep them flat. No country ever has. They all have pyramidal demographic shapes and not flat.

I'll agree; even NZ's form of Socialism was watered down - only a shadow of what it could be masking a heavy imbalance of resource opportunity with the lion's share favouring families already known to many generations of wealth along with social acknowledgement and influence.
