Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp on Tuesday signed a bill that would ban abortions if a fetal heartbeat can be detected

Georgia isn't the only one.
Texas, Florida, Mississippi and Ohio also have / had proposals (not sure current status)

Not to be outdone, old white men in North Carolina will soon propose legislation called the "Monty Bill"

I'm pretty sure that the Iowa Supreme Court just struck down a similar bill.

If at first you don't succeed, try try again.

Ohio had one in the works for awhile, but when Kasich was gov, he wouldn't sign it. Not because he is "pro abortion" (total misnomer used by the radical right), but because he did not want the state to waste time and money defending it through the courts.

It came up a again, and I believe our current gov, DeWine, signed it.

If they're destined for politics, I'd say neither develops.

Yeah well. The ultimate goal for the anti-abortion zealots is to get Roe vs. Wade revisited in the SCOTUS, so they will keep pushing crap legislation like this until it does.

I don’t know why politicians think they have authority over this anymore than doctors do.

Really!
It should be the Doctors and Mothers to decide on executing the babies right after they're born!

Better question should be which develops into functionality first. And the answer is obviously the heart and circulatory system, as that is needed for living tissue to survive.

A heartbeat starts at around 18 days.

The brain at that stage is mostly a fluid filled space and neurons are inactive. It’s all just a model to fill up much later. Brain circuitry doesn’t begin until the third trimester and consciousness doesn’t develop until after birth. The most common consensus is that a two year old isn’t yet as smart as an adult dog.

But what do doctors know, eh?

many people, as I understand it, don't know they are pregnant at 6 weeks.

This is a roundabout way to ban abortion.

When a person has no brain activity that person is clinically dead. It follows, I think, that the unborn with no brain activity yet is not clinically alive and can be aborted.

Either way it has to be up to the mother and her doctor. Anything else invalidates the body autonomy of the woman and she becomes a forced incubator.

I’m hoping that at the end of the day ( means: “when it’s all said and done”) the state gives us virtually all the women back. The cow ain’t gon milk itself (means: I’m not flexible enough to do that ie.milk the cow)

I don't believe a spontaneous abortion could be considered illegal. And ...and a DandC would be necessary and legal and ...and thank you God for my Y chromosome.
