Meant to choose 'Sometimes,' and then add 'depends on the situation.'

My answer to your original question is yes, it matters. Because of the way I understand cause and effect in human relationships and how people react to things. Not based on faith, based on science.

Good talk.

Science and facts don't tell people how they should feel, only what they do feel. But yes, good talk.

I sure did. Nothing to do now but delete my account and forget this site even existed...

So long, TFS! It's been fun! But I f***ed up... and now I must leave... forever...

*Slings a hobo bindle over his shoulder. The end theme to "The Incredible Hulk" TV show starts playing as Skunky sadly waves to everyone.*

EDIT: Double woe is me! I also lost 2 points for saying a swear.

Coming in late here but I think its nuanced.

I try and live by the principle of charity when it comes to conversation. I always interpret what someone has said in the best possible light. I think it's important to easily forgive small errors and problems with what people say. People shoot from the hip when talking and its' unfair to expect nobody to ever say anything even slightly unacceptable.

When I make mistakes like that I expect to be lightheartedly corrected and then I apologise, correct my behaviour and i've learned something new.

Like when I grew up using the word 'retard' as an insult was just really common and normal, i carried that a little longer than I should have and was happy to stop using it when I learned it offended people and why.

In saying all that, there is also a real dismissal of actual overt racism, in a way the new racism seems to be in the denial that there is any racism in the world anymore and that all accusations of racism are over the top responses from crazy sensitive liberals.... no, that isn't the case. There is plenty of racism around and we need to walk the line between addressing it and judging and policing everyone.

I couldn't help but read this all in Steven's voice in my head. But you bring up some really good points. I think it's ridiculous how it seems so easy to offend people nowadays when you don't even mean to. That being said, it's not like there's not some messed-up stuff still going on that needs to be addressed either.

Yeah, it's a very non dramatic middle of the road type response..I mean you could barely even get outraged by a position like that! lol

Yeah, I am a Steven fan!

I'm a fan.

I'm a fan of your posts here and I'm a fan of the movie and I'm a fan of this speech because it's funny and clever.

But it isn't true.

Actual racism is a problem because it's scientifically inaccurate and it's used by some bad state actors like North Korea to manipulate the people.

So, no offense against Bill Murray who I feel is the Charlie Chaplain of his time and no offense to you the shining star of The Forum Site.

The real tragedy here is that the philosophy of racism is being dumbed down/redefined and used as a political weapon.

How have we defined racism? If I understand correctly racism is bad; why?

How is racism "scientifically inaccurate"?

" ok, so what? walter matthau does a better job rally his baseball team in " the bad news bears ". at least, walter gave his boys beer after they win the game.

Truthfully the error of racism is this idea that some humans are biologically better than others. It's a science problem.

There is one race: "The Human Race."

When you have sex with Bill Cosby and ya'll make a baby, the baby will have some of his traits and some of yours. It don't matter if he's Chinese and you're Spanish, the baby will be human and the baby is loved of God.
