There should never have been any warnings. AFL players learn and practice executing a lot of different (often fairly complex) tactics. I really don't think they should need any more than a few practice matches to get used to the 6-6-6.

Reckon Bolt's men can lock away another wooden spoon. They were appalling against a very underwhelming Gold Coast. Just a total disconnect btw the midfield and the forward line. There are very few at Princes Park who exhibit any footy IQ whatsoever. Really reckon Bolts has had enough time. His team is badly drilled. Poor structures. Time for a change.

The AFL have made a heap of changes to increase scoring and yet the opposite has happened thus far. We are getting close matches but they are generally not easy on the eye.

The AFL said they wanted to go back to the high scoring days of the 80's and 90's. Well why not simply roll back two key changes that have occurred since that time? Why not go back to 2 on the bench (unlimited rotations) and get rid of prior opportunity. If you are tackled and you dont legally dispose of the ball you are pinged. Simple.

I thought the sainters were pretty good against Hawthorn. They have certainly surprised me. I watched Gold Coast play and can't understand how they are 3 from 4. They pressure well and rebound from defence pretty well but their skill errors were many. Any team other than Bolt's should have beaten them comfortably.

Adelaide are struggling early. Their forward line is too predictable and easy to defend against. Their forwards need more separation.

Rocket Eade made a good point Sunday on Triple M when talking about goal kicking. Back in the Lockett, Dunstall days etc they were just there as the main man and their only job was to kick goals, they were pretty much specialist. Now teams have so many playing forward and up the ground etc they aren't just goal kicking specialist anymore, they're expected to chase and tackle etc and for a lot of them suddenly goal scoring is just a part of their role, not their main role.

I think he also made mention of the fact that players don't spend as much time practising conventional goal kicking as they did in days gone past.

Very good win by Freo over GWS in Canberra. Didn't tip that one.

Speaking of good wins. The Sainters are now 4 from 5 and top of the ladder. Didnt think they would be so good so early...and it's surprising to see how much the Dees are struggling.

Meanwhile in Perth a disappointing WC were well beaten by Port. So there's three winning teams I havent tipped for this round thus far. Bugger.

Personally I don't think there should be any pre game entertainment on ANZAC Day. Play a doco or similiar before the game and then allow the RSL and ADF to conduct a commemorative ceremony...once the soldiers have left the field have the toss and bounce the ball...and that's it.

Franklin has moved on to 928 goals. Reckon he will finish 4th on the all time list by the time he retires.

With only one game to go to complete round 5 and the Sainters are on top for the first time since 2010. Who would have predicted that at the start of the season.

Bolton's boys finally had a win with McKay and Petrevski-Seton having easily their best games for the club.
