I like Pandora.

Not so big on google or apple... only use YouTube when I want to look up films/videos of music back in the day.

My top channels are: Elephant Revival Radio, Jorma Kaukonen Radio, Alison Krauss Radio, Dixie Chicks Radio... but I also go to Chieli Minucci, Jim Croce, Cowboy Junkies and Lissie... etc.

Apple Music’s Rise and Grind curated playlist of current punk releases, updated weekly by Apple. Need an Apple Music subscription for access. I usually listen to this when driving.

Apple Music’s Simply Piano radio station for nice background music at home through my speaker system. Also need an Apple Music subscription for this. I also have a massive playlist of the complete solo piano works of Bach, Brahms, Hayden, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin, Schumann, Liszt, Tchaikovsky, Debussy, and Joplin that I made, to put on shuffle at any time for the same purpose.

Aly & Fila’s Future Sound of Egypt weekly trance radio show when I’m in the mood for something a bit more uplifting at home. This is free and is found on podcast services as well as YouTube.

Pandora

I have a few different channels I occasionally tweak.

Enigma channel
Old-n-Prog (Rolling Stones to King Crimson)
Beruit channel (name of group in "Modern Folk"?? genre)
Sunday Morning (cooking breakfast)
Marillion channel (interest tweaked by TFS member we don't see anymore - oddly enough, I removed Marillion from the suggestions list - they were the worst of the mix that was coming up)
Liquid Tension Experiment (heavy prog)

I like that sometimes it pulls different versions of familiar songs, and plays groups I hadn't heard before.

I'll use YouTube or Spotify if I'm looking for a specific song or version, but not for general play.

And I don't pay for any of them. I can live with commercials.

Greetings.

I enjoy Google Play Music. You can rip your cd's and upload mp3s.

Google Play Music also has a robust album editing and quick mix option.

Total win.

At least for most of the "albums" I listen too - it would be a sin to slice and dice them.

They are produced to be consumed whole.

That's why I don't like (free) Spotify for more than a song here or there - if you pick an album, they shuffle it.

It's disagreeable that I have to search for "Pandora music play store" on google instead of finding it directly on the Play Store. It also happened for many other apps. I am a plus subscriber and I'm getting seriously annoyed. Pandora Music apknite changes stations on a whim, turns off while I'm listening, and turns on randomly whenever it chooses. I've re-installed the app 5 times. I love it when it's working, but for some reason, in the last few months, it's gone WAY downhill.

As mentioned, I go Free and tolerate the commercials.

It has occasionally un-paused on one of my devices, but not change stations.
If I have it on for a long time, it does pause and ask "Are you still listening?"

I have an old phone I use as just an IP device and use with Pandora as a "pocket radio" as I do yard work or bumming around the house.
