I think this much better bigger, than a regular rich person bride college to get their kid in college. it is really that shocking that celebrities are more involve in it and they caught. I really not surprise by this, I really don't care this happen.

we chalk up because the American way, that with money, you buy anything or anyone. why, that has been going on since the early 1900's, although the ivy colleges and universities.

the question is why this a big deal now than 40 to 50 years ago?

So, I think it's more complicated than that.

Somebody please correct me here but I think it goes beyond parents paying for their kids college. There's some kind of fraud involved.

Yes the parents were “donating” to a charity that was a coverup for a bribe. The bribe included falsifying SAT and/or ACT scores either though proctor cheating or falsifying medical documents. They also falsified sports participation, including paying off coaches to lie that students were on teams they did not actually join. They also bribed university officials to look the other way and make sure no one else questioned it.
And finally on top of it there was the potential of the “charity” donation being tax deductible. So there may also be tax evasion consequences.

I would buy a Library for a college to get my kid in there if I had to.

So you would be one of those people paying for someone to cheat and take your child's SAT for them... if you had the money?

Interesting.

Greetings. Much thanks for weighing in on this.

Ironically enough Abigail Fisher probably lost her spot at UT to one of the children of these rich parents rather than the black kids that should have been going to a “slower track school where they will do better”.

Another Shock and Horror lies beneath.

The Tip came from an exec being investigated.
Tobin faced two charges of securities fraud for his role in a pump-and-dump scheme involving the manipulation of stock from two companies he secretly owned.

Back to the main show:
He told investigators that Rudolph "Rudy" Meredith, the head women's soccer coach at Yale University, had sought a bribe in return for getting his daughter into the Ivy League school, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The coach conspired with Singer to accept bribes in exchange for designating Yale applicants as recruits for the team, according to a court filing.

Summary: The financial exec needed to cheat to get enough money to bribe his daughter's way into Yale ...
