Small notes that may or may not be relevant:
1. Typically family trees are written somewhere on the inside of the bible. My family's "family bible" has the family tree in the back inside. However, I don't think there is any rule regarding where exactly the family tree goes.
2. In the pictures and video clips I saw, Trump was signing what appeared to be the
outside front cover of a bible, though perhaps my eyes deceived me.
The bible itself doesn't contain any rules about whether or not one should or should not write anything on the outside front cover of a bible.... or anywhere else.
"God" didn't write the bible anyway (it was written by humans), so I doubt seriously that god cares.
None the less I find it tacky, at best, to autograph any bible on its front cover... but thats just me... call me crazy.
I also find it more than a bit delusional to want any human to sign the front cover of any holy book.
We can all be happy about at least one part of this story: Trump didn't autograph a Koran...so many things would have been wrong with that.
Does it really matter if you or I find it tacky though? He was asked to sign them by the owners. If he showed up with a stack of Bibles and started signing and distributing them unsolicited then yeah, that would be tacky and honestly, I'd be laughing my a** off.
But he was signing them at the request of the people who owned them...I'm sure they appreciated it and will enjoy having them, misguided as it may be.
Yeah, it's kind of silly to have a human sign the front of a holy book, but if you ask me it's also kind of silly for someone completely removed from the situation to condemn anything about it if the two people involved agree on it and aren't really hurting anyone.
Just me maybe.
