So, this si going to be a very weird post. So, I was supposed to meet a woman later today before work, for some "fun." Ironically at work yesterday, a cold sore sprang up. Haven't had one of those since 2014. It just decided to spring up. Of course obvious things come into play, like my stress and lack of sleep that could have caused it to spring up (maybe even the exposure to sunlight).

To the point of the thread, I think this happened due to God (or Fate) preventing it for good reason. Maybe it's not meant to be. Maybe this cold sore is saving me from something much, much worse. Just wish I got this at the beginning of Spring Break and not the end.

Anyway, how do you feel about when things no longer go as planned.

If this pre planned 'meet up ' for some "fun" was a 'business' arrangement then I can understand why the whole thing would have to be called off. Cold sores do tend to have a negative effect on "fun" for both people involved, no matter the reason for the sore .
But if the meet up is with a friend then why couldn't the plans be altered ? Meet for coffee or dinner or movie, miniature golf or any number of things and plan another meet up for "fun" for a day when the sore has healed.

if you are going to kiss yours and her first bag over your and her head breaks. you got second paper bag to protect you.

Kick trash cans
throw dishes and glasses
break mirrors
bust up chairs

Then, when I'm cleaning everything up I say to myself - "See, I didn't have time (or money) for that anyways!"

This was considered “my last chance.” Due to work and stuff we kept rescheduling. She’s more of an old FWB of mine. Not as nice anymore though. Maybe it’s for the best.

Oh, btw
There would be many murdered each year from falling deadwood if not for hurricanes coming through once a year

The same with mass fires

Falling trees take lives by surprise yet 'natural' disasters allow us plenty of time to get distance and take shelter.

Not always - tornadoes, volcanoes - in some cases.

I have had to reduce my expectation for what "fun" looks like. Inasmuch as I don't expect fun things to happen, I'm even more thrilled when they do.

Last week I was in the basement of a very special building on a very special campus. I pinched two fingers in a heavy floor tile and since then I've been guarding them. The swelling is gone down mostly and the bruising under the nail has gotten very dark. I still have to work around those tiles and now everyday I'm pretty happy when I don't get my fingers pinched.

I also have a hotel room which means I never have to hear/see the television.

None of this answers your question about how things don't go according to plan.

The most important plans ought to include backup and contingencies. I recommend offering your special friend and engagement ring and a marriage proposal. That way, once your mouth wound dries up, you can marry this young lady and enjoy all the fun your heart desires at least for the first six years.

I had a cunning plan to be installed as His Most Awesome and Excellent Master of the Universe by age twenty. Since then I've learned that plans rarely come together so there's no point making them to be honest.
