If Trump were to lose the election on Nov 3, 2020 (which midterms and polls indicate he will), he will almost almost certainly declare the results illegitimate . While it will be easy for security to simply escort him out of the White House on Jan 20, 2021 if he flat out refuses to leave, it’s what he will do in the 2.5 months between Nov 3 and Jan 20 that could be scary. Will he go ballistic on national emergency declarations, pardon everyone, kill treaties, start a war, and/or generally adhere to a scorched earth policy on everything that would makes everything outrageous he has done up to this point pale in comparison? I wouldn’t put it past him.

Disclaimer:

We all know my opinion that Trump is going to win, so to any and all republicans, conservatives, Trumpites: Don't get your panties (Bob) in a wad.

Now for my option:

1. if Trump loses there is actually zero doubt on the topic. Trump will absolutely declare that the election was rigged against him; i.e. there was fraud.

2. It is likely that a high percentage of republicans, conservatives (Bob) and all Trumpites will also claim there the election was rigged against him, i.e. there was fraud.

Now the real question: What will Trump then do?

I think it depends on how much Trump lost by.

Option 1: He loses by a very close margin (wins popular vote but not EC, or loses both by a slim margin). In this situation I think there is a strong chance that Trump would declare the election fraudulent and challenge it in court. He would not leave office until all appeals were resolved. This would likely cause a constitutional crisis in the USA. It could easily cause "rioting in the streets".

Also, Trump would likely try to use executive orders to try to lock in some of his policies.

Option 2: He loses by a massive margin. Trump would declare the election fraudulent, but would ultimately exit with out a fight.

In both options 1 & 2, Trump would pardon all of his buddies, family... pretty much anyone and everyone he viewed as close or loyal to himself, and possibly pardon himself.

Having said all that I think the real questions are, "IF" Trump declares fraud, national emergency, etc and tries to stay in office:

A. What beyond words will the Republicans do? What will the Republicans in the H.R. & in the Senate do?

>>> I have no idea.

B. What will Trump's White House staff and cabinet do?

>>> I have no idea.

C. What will our military do? If Trump tries to end treaties, start a war, etc... will our military follow him... or block him until the new and legal president comes to office?

>>> I believe that our military would not follow Trump, if he tried to not leave office.

f***ing hell I'm scared of next year.

My wife just remarked to me last night that we're going to be staying up late more than once watching debates when they come around. I used to genuinely enjoy watching them. Now it's going to be a matter of urgency.

It's a weird time to be alive in America.

Final thought:

If memory serves, Obama haters were claiming that Obama would do something like this... that is, some were claiming that Obama was going to run for a 3rd term... refuse to leave the office... etc.

At the time, I said that the idea the Obama would try to not leave office, etc, was idiotic nonsense.

Now... the tables have turned... will Trump try?

I doubt it will come to it, but... maybe.

I know people who think that the USA is on the brink of civil war. I don't agree... but I have been wrong.

bozo will lose by the government workers kept out of work during the shutdown, who will vote against him. I think we call that irony!

From where I sit it is unthinkable that Trump could be elected for a second term. I cannot possibly believe Americans are that stupid.

I'd offer some sympathy but we are too battered by our own political crisis here to be paying too much attention to what is going on elsewhere.

We know you've got a dangerous maniac in the White House and we know he's doing all sorts of stupid crap. We also know he's an inveterate liar, manipulator and all round nutjob. But the finer details elude us.

I can only say that I hope the USA wakes up and drums him out of office by a massive margin. For your sake, guys.

Oh my.

How terrible would that be? What do you think he would do? Do you think he might get the FBI to spy on his opponents, lie to FISA courts, buy fake dirt from Russia..? Would he say that the Russkies rigged the election?

The hilarity! The irony!

I find myself, as someone unconvinced by MSM's constant barrage of laughably inept propaganda, wondering if Trump is actually going to run. There's no reason for him to do so.

Besides that, isn't this last week's recycled fake news? I thought we had gone back to the start of the fake news cycle - you know, Trump never wanted to be President and does not want the job...

To be fair though, they recycle these stories so quickly I just can't keep up.

Please note, this is me being my usual hyperbolic self. I tried, but just can't help it - the Aussie humor must be unleashed The aim is to have a bit of fun. I am not out to attack anyone.

Would the riots be worse than the riots that happened after Trump won in 2016?

And as Donald J Trump takes his seat as emperor, the sun will turn black as sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon will turn blood red, and the stars in the sky will fall to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind.

I don't think there were "riots in the streets" after he won.

I mean there were protests and some marches around inauguration, and a few people being stupid and a breaking some windows, but some times there are worse chaos and damage after the superbowl or other sporting events.

I would say the Ferguson issues were worse in recent years, certainly not as bad as the LA riots.

I mean people b****ed am moaned when he won, and there have been various "resistance" marches and movements. but that is actually part of the system we have working. People may think the people in the streets are whiny little b****es**, but its actually not a constitutional crisis. According to the constitution they get to be whiny little b****es.

Trump not leaving would be a totally new bear. Although I think he mostly likely will make use of his lame duck period to, f*** up as much as he can with executive orders and pardon his peeps. Not necessarily try to stay in and be "king forever". I mean I could be wrong...his stupidness has astounded me before...so my expectations are low.

** I use whiny little b****es in humorous way, I have been a whiny little b**** too. All Americans can be whiny little b****es, red, blue, left right. No judgement on the reason, protesting is annoying if you don't agree, by definition it is civil disobedience, its whole point is to be loud and disruptive. Our Constitution guarantees our rights to do it.
