One that could no longer find on youtube some time ago. Once upon a time in the west by Ennio Morricone where she is up in the alcove at the symphony.

That entire movie is amazing.

Also, it's a bit confusing to see your avatar as there is another reg of this forum who uses it.

What is your most haunting song

"Haunting" is probably the wrong word, but....

PS
I am totally cool with you using my avatar... there are only two rules for this avatar: sometimes be logical and other times act like a jackass.

Beethoven's Sonata 23.
F Minor.
Allegro ma non troppo - Presto
Movement 3.

But only when played by Solomon Cutner.

This is the sound of human frustration spoken without words. It is the most important piece of music in the universe to me. This is Solomon playing it:

I am not ashamed to say that I only listen to my record of this recording when I am alone because after some 26 years of owning it, this passage in particular still makes me cry like a baby. Every. Single. Time. Right at about 4:19 in the video.

Not long after this was recorded, in 1956, Solomon suffered a stroke and his right arm was paralyzed for the rest of his life. The world lost probably the best interpreter of Beethoven in recordable history.

All through the 90's I would hear this song play about 5am on Saturday morning

It was the theme song to a radio show "Through the Night with Mike Kellog"

As a child I was spooked by clowns in my coffee.
So I avoided it for years because I didn't want the song to be about me.

Edit:
Wow .. listening to it again on the cheesy laptop speakers gives me the flash-back chills of my early years listening to an AM transistor radio (an old-fashioned internet-less free source of music )

This is awesome. Thanks! I’m going to be looking into Solomon Cutner myself as a result.

This from 1987. I was only 3 when it was released.

Originally written as a protest against Apartheid in South Africa and the continued imprisonment of Nelson Mandela, a lot of other oppressed groups took the powerful lyric and adopted it to their own cause. These lyrics are universal to anybody, anywhere who has been denied their liberty and their rights.

I first heard it when I was about sixteen and it mainlined right into my own situation at that time. I still can't hear it without getting a shiver down my spine.

Magnificent.

Lisa Gerrard & Pieter Bourke - Sacrifice

Lisa Gerrard is of Dead Can Dance fame. She has also been the vocalist for several movie soundtracks, namely Gladiator.

Her lyrics, as is the case in this song, found in the movie Insider, is sung with a created language. While the words, therefore, have zero meaning, it doesn’t matter. Rarely have I ever heard a vocal piece sung with as much emotional range, depth, feeling, and meaning as this - it was amazing how you come across feeling what she is feeling with clarity.

I would listen to this repeatedly during times of suffering in my life, and it never fails to bring a tear to my eye during moments she soars in the song, no matter how many times I listen to it.
