on January 8th 2019 the American Psychological Association labelled traditional masculinity as a form of 'mental illness!' another step in the movement to reverse the genders.

I honestly feel like they made the mistake of allowing this to take the place of actual science.

Seems odd, I'll have to research exactly what they're talking about.

They can take that diagnosis and ram it up the toilet.

I swear on my dad’s grave we are not having this conversation. Good God

I’ve already had two debates in my thread on it. It’s funny because one of my professors (who is a female) doesn’t fully agree with it and believes it’s possible the Toxic Feminists had a part in the creation of this. It derives from hypermasculinity, but is different to an extent I believe.

FYI

Note: I am not agreeing, just sharing...

Per the APA "masculinity ideology" is defined as "a particular constellation of standards that have held sway over large segments of the population, including: anti-femininity, achievement, eschewal of the appearance of weakness, and adventure risk and violence."

>>> I think they need to flesh this definition out a little.

On the other hand...

the APA also encouraged men to embrace the positive aspects of traditional masculinity, like leadership and courage.

etc

Suzanne Hoff Sommers is an old school feminist and she really gives men a decent fair shake. She's talked a bit about toxic masculinity and she's fair. I have a decent amount of respect for her. She's pretty well balanced in that she's not a man hater type. The feminist movement has been hijacked. It was literally on par with the civil rights movement and both were very noble things, unfortunately it seems like the feminist movement has morphed into something else.

I'll check her out. I know that there are real feminists (male and female) around. I still disagree with the APA and their guidelines. I don't think it fully helps, especially if they need 40 pages to guide boys into becoming positive men in society.
