Off topic... or only vaguely on topic...

The Florida Keys used to have a marathon where you were supposed to drink a beer every mile at specified bars. The "rule" was a minimum of a sip of beer at each. It might have been more like a half marathon... and I don't remember if it was annual or held just one year.

Some people took the run seriously and had a tiny sip at specified bars, then continued the race in an effort to win or beat there PB. Not surprising, most people never finished the run.

I think now it is a mile run with four stops: The Beach N’ Beer Mile is becoming a favorite among locals and tourists who want to add a little fun in their run by drinking 4 beers in just one mile!.

Similarly... well not that similar... in the Northern Virginia national capital area they used to have a running club... the name was something like the hounds & hare... I don't think that was the name, but something like that... they typically did 6 to 10 mile runs with the finish line at a different bar/pub preselected by the "hare" (the only person who knew the route for that night). they literally ran for beer!

Anyway... back to TV world...

Staying off topic: A Marathon Binge - 200 Shot Club
200 shots of beer for 200 minutes.
Miss a minute - penalty shot
Leave the room - penalty shot

25 beers in just over 3 hours

There was a particular 4 years in my life I partook in such an event

OK
Back to my Doctor Who marathon

Back off topic... I once had a broken heart. To get over the tragedy of a particular woman ripping my heart from my chest and stomping it on to a pile of asphalt and salt, I decided to drink a bottle of tequila one shot every 20 minutes (no more/no less).

At some point roughly 8 hours later (+/-) the bottle was gone. I think a few of my friends helped themselves to a shot or two, so technically I don't think I drank the whole bottle by myself...

...long story short, to this day I don't remember that woman's name.

Now... back to the great outdoors, while my girlfriend finishes her Hallmark Christmas Movie Ultra-marathon.

On average I watch two or three movies a week.

I stay away from romantic comedies. I like suspense thriller Syfy sci-fi fantasy.. on rare occasions I’ll see art films.

But it all depends as I have to travel for work. Most of the time I resist turning on the television. I think the best commercials were the ones selling beer and cigarettes. I wish I could somehow emphasize how important beer and cigarette commercials are.

I can't binge ANYTHING lately. I would probably watch one episode then move on to something else. Marathons like you described, I do too - Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings etc.

To be honest, the last thing I binge watched was BattleStar Galactica (the new one).

I don’t usually do movie marathons. I binge my favorite shows and anime’s for a good 4 hours when I have free time.

Hmm well, I’ve never been one to care to see a movie or show again. That’s like watching something with someone telling you who dies at the end.

But I’ve binged on series that I haven’t seen before, if it turns out to be captivating enough after the first episode or so. That’s what Netflix/Amazon/Hulu/HBO Now is for of course.

Shows that come to mind in which I’ve done this include Game of Thrones, 24, Pretty Little Liars, Lost, Walking Dead.

Currently I’m catching up on the latest seasons of Last Kingdom (hugely underrated due to the genre glut) and Ozark.

Looking forward to the new season of Punisher coming out this week. Pretty much the only “superhero” movie/show (if it can even be called that) that has captured my interest.

One of the (many) drinking challenges indulged in by rugby players - often at Portsmouth University Women's RFC where I played rugby as a student, and DEFINITELY at Blackheath RFC where my dad used to play was "The Chunder Mile".

4 times around the rugby pitch (no cutting corners), stopping to drink a pint of beer the end of each lap.

I only ever tried it once.
