There is truth

Truth is a concept.

A concept is a thought.

Thought occurs in the mind.

Thought does not exist independent of the mind.

You won't get forgiveness after death, Christianity has a methodology to it, and you have this life to decide the matter.

So the only way to get into heaven is to be christian (as a start)?

Premise: mind does not exist independent of the body of a conscious entity....

If: mind does not exist independent of the body of a (conscious entity)

And: there is no truth independent of the mind

Then: there is no truth independent of conscious entities.

Given: There is that which exists independent of the mind (really no way to prove that but I am inclined to believe that and accept it as a given)

The term Truth has many meanings depending at least in part on context and the interpretation of the speaker and listener. The term truth may be used in different ways.

Accordance, Fidelity, consistency, sincerity.

If: I can understand what 'the world' is like
then: the potential for survival increases.

What the truth is is debatable.

Theists says God
Descartes said the self
Plato said the Forms
Phenomenology says that things only exist when they are perceived
Empiricists use scientific laws of nature.

Truth (that which is true) depends on perspective as to how to uncover the basis of knowledge.

There may not even be such a thing as truth.

Pilate, is that you? Long time, no hear! Are you guys channeling him?
He famously replied to Jesus, "What is truth?" And then he famously washed his hands of the matter. [That is where the old saying comes from.]

I think you are a bit confused.

Pilate did not wash his hand of the truth.

He "washed his hands" of the sentencing of Jesus to death as it was the religious leaders of the Jews who called for Jesus' death.

Pilate didn't care either way. He had no dog in the hunt (proverbially speaking)

And, if you believe in the bible, this was a necessary action on the part of Pilate to allowed the Jews to do what they wanted to do (i.e. kill the messiah) thus fulfilling prophesy.

English Standard Version
So when Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing, but rather that a riot was beginning, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this man’s blood; see to it yourselves.”

Pilate cared quite a bit, when he saw a riot forming, and he cared for his position, and not what happened to Jesus, or the truth. He took part in murder.
I don't see how you arrived at your conclusion. Pilate could have delivered Jesus, and he knew that they had accused Jesus from spite.

Yes.

Even those that never have the opportunity to learn about Christianity?

And I'm not referring to babies. As I understand it, that is the purpose of baptism. ... though, the question remains - if they die before they are baptized, is it off to hell for them?

That is what I said, which was not what you said.

To repeat, Pilate said, “I am innocent of this man’s blood; see to it yourselves.”

Pilate "washed his hands" of the sentencing of Jesus to death as it was the religious leaders of the Jews who called for Jesus' death.

Pilate did not wash his hand of the truth.

Pilate didn't care at all. He was acting for Rome. In that area he had all the power from Rome to make his decision. If he cared, he had the power from Rome either free Jesus or just executed Jesus himself But Pilate did not care. He clearly though that the Jews were being stupid, but since he didn't care, he let then do what they wanted to; i.e. execute Jesus. Thus Pilate "washed his hands".

However it was god's plan, thus Pilate could NOT free Jesus. He had to deliver Jesus to be murdered. The prophesies had to be fulfilled.

If Pilate had freed Jesus, Jesus would not have died for your sins... the prophesies would not have been fulfilled...you would not have any Christianity.

The story had to play out to its final conclusion so "we" could have salvation.

Ultimately it was part of god's plan... Pilate never really had a choice.

When you read the bible, please do try to pay attention.
