Speaking of heat, I just saw a demonstration of something I had forgot about.
A glass of water is super-cooled - temperature brought down below freezing.
A liquid can become super-cooled if there isn't anything for the ice to grow on (it's more complicated, but that's close enough)
Once you prick, or stir the water, ice starts to form - and the temperature of the water Goes Up - even above freezing!!
