So some of you may not believe this, but this is my first time watching it. I loved the film. It made me miss Robin Williams. I think Matt Damon did an amazing job. Will angered me at some points throughout the movie. If I said I saw it before, please forgive me, but I either lied because I wanted to feel like I belonged, or I misread it as a different movie. Even though they remake many movies, this is one they shouldn’t remake. Too beautiful of a film. Helped me understand the more of what counselors go through. I can see some of the challenges they face as well.

So if you saw the film, what was your take on it? Did you enjoy it, or dislike it? Who’s your favorite character? Whose your least favorite character?

Despite the fact that the other man guy in the movie is a muppet (Ben Affleck - I couldn't remember his name but then that Team America song started playing in my head ) Good Will Hunting is a great movie. Matt Damon's character was great, and while it was a bit overblown the story of the person with potential who is trodden down is a common one. It is in my top ten movies of all time.

interesting parts of this movie - not only won the best picture at the Oscar, won the best screenplay that year by matt and ben, and ben and matt starred in the movie, were unknown actors at the time.

Sean: [during a therapy session] You're not perfect, sport, and let me save you the suspense: this girl you've met, she's not perfect either. But the question is whether or not you're perfect for each other.

It didn’t win Best Picture, although it was nominated. Titanic got the Best Picture win that year (with James Cameron yelling “I’m king of the world!”)

Anyhow, I liked this a lot better than Titanic. I enjoyed the acting of all three - Robin Williams, Matt Damon, and Ben Affleck.

Yes, the latter two were unknowns at the time, as it was Williams who obviously had the star power then, in an uncharacteristicly non-comedic role for him (for which he won an Oscar for, and deservingly so). Damon and Affleck indeed won Oscars for the screenplay, and, to this day, I still think it’s probably the best movie either have been in.

It wasn’t the first time director Gus Van Sant worked with Robin Williams in a non-comedic role, as that honor goes to the lesser known Awakenings, also a powerful movie. Since then Gus’ movies have become more obscure, but just as memorable, including an emotionally resonating portrayal of Kurt Cobain in his last days, as well as an intimate, and obviously highly relevant, portrayal of a school shooting.

I didn't think it won, either - I misread the wiliki this morning.

titanic - it took for 45 minutes from iceberg stuck to the ship was pretty going under. when you are rooting for the two main stars to drown into the ocean or at least, one get eating by shark. something to root for.

the male drown save old lady in the wheelchair at the end, and she was not toss in the ocean by the captain of the ship. that worth of the movie ticket. the theme song in the movie is the best thing in the movie.

they could have that the great scene the she hanging over the bow with him holding her waist over the water. I would love it, he let her go face down in the water. that worth , sitting almost four hours in darken movie theater. instead, people crying in the theater. especially, I am the one is crying loudest in the theater.

only good thing in the movie was billy zane that stole the movie as the villain.

irony, of james Cameron, that when " avatar " was nominated Oscar for best picture. he lost to his ex-wife, for brilliant " the hurt locker ". I felt justice for almost the four hours of the most borest hours in my life in movie theater.

I saw it when it was released and the thing that struck me is how a disruptive, subversive 'teacher' could land a job in a fee paying school. if I was a parent forking out a fortune every year to give my kid a chance in life then that teacher would be the last guy i'd want teaching my kid...he was like a cult leader. anyway, that's what I thought back then, haven't seen it since.

when my mother and I saw the movie in theater. we never thought about robin's character in any other way than ' psychologist ' or whatever his title was. he seems his methods were unconventional, letting his behavior with lost of his wife as excuse. does explain something.

what you are said does make sense, this movie is based on a true story. more of the audience would see it more as robin getting through to matt anything. like me and my mom would have notice what you refer to.

you are making a good point.

in " dead poety society " , robin's methods as a teacher might closer to a ' cult leader ' image.

in that movie, robin went out the teaching methods standards of the school that led him to get fired. he taught his kids to think out of the box and explore outside of real world. that society tried to hold back from them for awhile until they graduate.

I draw personally a couple of similarities between Good Will Hunting and Dead Poet's Society. Not sure if it's because maybe because both set in Schools, both involved Robin Williams in fantastic roles, both of the movies Williams ad-libbed some of the script.

in robin's early film's career, most of his directors told him hold back his humor, because in many ways, robin was more better serious actor than comical actor back then.

yeah, the people that hired him need to be fired for not protecting their fee payers from a guy who encourages students to 'think outside the box!' they pay good money for their kids to be successful inside the box.

this secret society or other like it are know have students , who become lawyers, judges, and high rank officers in the future.

only, two movies that cross my mind are " the star chamber " that dealt with judges take law in their hands like judge, jury, and an executioner. and other others, was " the skulls " less known tw movies.

the movie is about ( I think was Harvard) this secret society doesn't let anyone in the society leave, even if they graduated. they actually will kill to keel this society from the public. this movie was ok in 2000. William Patterson ( before ( cis ) and craig t. nelson (before coach. )

these movies and " the enforcer " remind of the oppsitive effect of dead man's society.

if a teacher or college professor get through to them, the parents aren't get cheap by the college. their children are learning " independently " . it is a good thing, not a bad thing!
