you wonder if the bible would have the story of noah's ark, if the ark's sank with everybody and animals on?

If the ark sank there would be living things on he planet, no Bible, and no TZ.

thank god! that noah was married, because those animals wouldn't be safety. in nine months, those sheeps have babies.

noah would be on trial for sex harrassments. each sheep would tell her story to the judge. the first words out of the sheep's mouth is:

baa, baa, he is the father!

maybe that would be the true blessing at the time, to limit all evil from humanity.

No.

I'm saying it is not true...it is a fake internet meme... not factual.... urban folk lore meant for the gullible.

It all goes back to the 1800. No real scientist support it nor have for a very very long time.

Book: The Flight of the Bumblebee and Related Myths of Entomological Engineering
by John H. McMasters.

He didn't say that bumblebees couldn't fly. The "discussion" was a comparison to fix wing aircraft, not a scientific statement. It was taken out of context and misquoted....and did not actually take into consideration the science of insect wings.

etc

Correct, he didn't say they couldn't fly.
The discussion was "according to.... (science)...... they shouldn't be able to fly.

I didn't say it was a scientific statement... it was a discussion.

"Additionally, John Maynard Smith, a noted biologist with a strong background in aeronautics, has pointed out that bumblebees would not be expected to sustain flight, as they would need to generate too much power given their tiny wing area. However, in aerodynamics experiments with other insects, he found.........."

After the flood Noah planted a vineyard.... and got drunk.... passed out... naked.

Not sure why Ham got into so much trouble seeing the old man naked. Maybe seeing a naked body he couldn't control himself?

So your comment, "Remember the "Bumbees shouldn't be able to fly" story?", was an irrelevant non sequitur.

Got it.

E: I never understood that part of the story. Maybe Ham, when he saw his drunken day (and I would probably get drunk to if I was Noah) ...when Ham seeing Noah naked means he say Noah as he really was as opposed to what he was pretending to be. Or not.

i never knew about ham at all. one man saw another naked man. maybe, what the big deal then.

hamming meaning exaccating or overreact in an act out something in serious into something. or acting silly, in that is out of character.

ham thought noah look like a pig, naked. ham thought his father look like bacon. something that small on a man. it would if it is agay thing, why bacon taste salty.

this starting information, you gave me now about ham. it explain the song.

ham bone connect the knee bone, the ankle bone connect to the leg bone, etc.

it would explain why we, jewish people, don't eat pork. if i saw my father naked, he look like a ham. he look like a pig, i wouldn't eat pork, either.

maybe, god want use this an example, as a gay thing. you never father see your father naked. you can be disappiont look down at noah's hamebone, that his mother could done or how long take to find noah's, without have device like an microscope to find it.

Did you miss this bit?
The real lesson to be gleaned from this myth isn’t that scientists are so blinded by technicalities that they overlook what is painfully obvious to everyone else (namely, that bumblebees really do fly), but that one needs to understand there can be quite a difference between a real-life concept and a mathematical model of it : - David Mikkelson

The claim was that... the Ark wouldn't float
Yet a shipbuilder proved that it would.

Apparently one was not supposed to see their parents naked. The other two walked in backwards to avoid seeing.

But I wonder if something else happened for it to warrant a mention.

I know my kids wouldn't want to see me naked - nor I them (now). lol
But would I write about it if it happened accidentally?

Well I guess we have to rely on science to give us those answers. Like looking at marine and ship history.

Just for the record, I'm not saying that the Noah story is EXACTLY how it happened. Just that it is possible... more so than 'something random happened where there was nothing, by nothing for no reason'.
And that it is interesting that building such a ship in those dimensions actually floats... and it took a few thousand years for ship builders to realise how valuable they are for building huge load carrying ships.

It is so easy to "Poo Poo" what is in the Bible but science is finding more and more things that give the contents of the Bible credibility.

What I'm getting at is that you're saying you're looking at marine and ship history and that science is giving us those answers...but according the the old testament everything prior to Noah was erased. There simply is no marine and ship history to look at until after the flood. And if you don't take it literally, how do you know what marine and ship history syncs up with the time of Noah? If the story is just something that happened somewhere in history and not when the Bible literally says it did, what historical records are you referring to and how do you know they are concurrent with an event you don't know the time of?

I'm not "poo pooing" anything. I'm asking for clarification here, you say you're just noting that it's possible but you also say that Noah's ship set the standard for ship building and no ships were built with those dimensions before the ark. You stated that as a fact, not a possibility, and it's kind of not possible to know that as a fact whether you believe the literal word of the Bible or not.

People like Ziusudra are known to have existed about 2900 years before Christ...who was the hero of the Sumerian flood legend and he loaded a ship with supplies and livestock and floated down the river when their sea god Enki told him to do so and instructed him on how to build it.

Following the timeline of the Bible based on dates we know with certainty, Exodus would have occurred about 1447 BC and the Old Testament flood around 2300 BC (give or take). So there are similar flood legends across the globe, yes, but there are also huge discrepancies in the timing of them. Not to mention, this "poo poos" most of the secular archaeological record and would mean that all of existing human civilizations that are in that record would have to fit in the last 4000 years.

Science and archaeology do indeed support a lot of what is said in the Bible in terms of historical events and people and places existing, but it's a mistake to then say that science supports the notion that the dimensions of the ark were handed down to Noah by a divine being and that no one knew how to build ships that way before then. Science, unequivocally, does not support that and you can't say what you're saying without owning the fact that you're trying to make it seem that it does.

Prior to 1698 no one knew how to build a steam engine but then someone did it. If we believe that just because no one knew how to do something before a person figured it out means that that person was given those ideas by God, we have to submit ourselves to believing that every innovation and invention ever to happen was due to divine intervention and that humans have never really invented anything at all. And no matter how you paint it, that is absolutely not science.

You probably at this point think I'm an atheist (maybe you don't). I wouldn't be so sure about that. I just see it as problematic when we try to use science as an application to support something that is A) not supportable by science and B) not really provable in any fashion other than by faith alone, thus not provable.

I promise you I'm not trying to be mean or a jerk about this...just discussing.

Can you share your source for this?

Of course a pice of wood thrown in the water would float also.

Just because it could theoretically have floated, doesn't mean that it existed, and certainly doesn't mean that any real ships were based on the specifications of the ark, which were basically only height/length/width and building material...well just the wood, not any info on what was used to seal the seems...

Did the ark have a keel? How big was it? I'm having the funny image of a big wooden bathtub shaped box full of animals and their poop being thrashed about on the raging seas of god's global flood....

speaking of bathtub, when i was a kid, beside with a rubbie duck ( i don't ever name my duckie. ) in my bathtub. i had a plastic submarine with in my tub, that you put two pills in the submarine.

one pill will sink the submarine, and other pill will bring up to the surface.

it was a naughty submarine, you can if i was in the way, submerging or surface. you image where the submarine came up to the suface of the tub at places. naughty bastard!

I had one of those subs. Interestingly if you use it in a fish tank it kills the fish.

Just a spot of Interweb observation:

It was the largest container ship in the world at the time of launch in November 2014, with a maximum capacity of 19,100 TEU containers. The CSCL Globe measures 400.0m in length, 58.6m in width and 30.5m in depth.
(I just googled "common dimensions of largest cargo ships" )

Doesn't look like the golden ratio, and doesn't look like the "god given" ratio.

Thanks Obama
