this probably wasn't in the bible, but i heard rumor this really happened.

when jesus was on the cross, waiting to to die. one of the few conservation that he had with peter.

jesus was looking around the area, see a village, not far away. jesus calls out for peter. peter rush over jesus's feet, looks up to jesus. " what it is, jesus? "

jesus look down at peter and said, " peter, peter, i can see your house from here. "

I am pretty sure that religion is the worship of a God and not a God.

I worded that badly I think. lol

Yes, religion is "the belief in and worship of"
What I meant was that people treat the church as the religion whereas it should be God they believe in and worship.

People accept that whatever the Pope says.. goes.
Or what their minister says... goes.

It may be that Jesus and Judas had it planed. Judas goes to the high priest and tells him he knows where Jesus is. They go to the garden and Judas gives Jesus' brother Jim a big sloppy kiss. Jim is arrested and tacked up to a cross. Later Jesus shows up and says, "I'm Back. The apostles say, OMG and Jesus says, "That's right". Judas (of course) had to be killed in order to prevent the truth from coming out. Jesus disappears (ascends into Heaven) and then pretends to be his brother Jim. <<The Gospel according to Erimitus)

Explain how Jim/Jesus got the nailholes and puncture in his side then.

i do my own talking to god in my own way. i have a normal relationship with god. you know that god has bad grammar like me. he is ok by me.

most of tradional stories about judism come stories out of a desert. that jewish people that roamed for 40 years for freedom.

two characters named moses and noah, the most interesting lives in the desert in jewish history. torah and the bible are pretty much the same book. after that, they were common people like other kind of reglious people in cultures in the books.

torah and probably the bible ( i have read the bible version or the pictures bible, you see in children's doctors. when i was a kid, i personally like " jack & jill " magazine, " boy's life ", and " highlight " in doctor's offices. )if anything that both books have in common that few people some incredible lives. heck of a lot of people were common and boring like normal people, you and i. some of these people were lost who they are and had no place to go. they found themselves through god or what had in the desert. that sound pretty normal to me.

if anything that the bible and torah teach us about the people in our religion back then. that they were boring and dull like us now.

I believe God speaks in many laguages too... understands them all. He don't give no hoot nanny how you speak, write or walk.

lol, I don't lead a boring life. But yeah, people stuffing up... getting lost... sounds pretty normal to me.

18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

This is what really started to get me thinking and wondering WTF??

So an infant that hasn't had the opportunity to learn and dies before "baptism" is condemned?

What about those people in other societies that have no chance of learning about Christianity and at least have an opportunity to believe - they are condemned as well??

... WTF?

... and we all know that "condemned" implies Go To Hell!!

There's a version of the following story being considered for the "3rd Testament":

Things are getting pretty bad in the early 1800s in the American mid-west.
So God tells Jesus to go back down to Earth and straighten things out... give hope to the desolate, put fear into the debaucherous ... you know, typical stuff.

There's a rancher at a lake, watering what's left of his heard after a devastating disease and famine wiped out 95% of his cattle.
Jesus appears to him and tells him to "Have hope, believe in me and all will be well"
The down and out, the skeptical rancher says Prove you're the savior, Jesus.

Jesus replies, What will make you believe in me?

The rancher stops and thinks a minute, then says -
If you're really Jesus you can walk on water, so go walk out on the lake.

Jesus agrees and starts to walk into the lake. He get's a few feet out and "Splash" he falls in.

He walks back out of the lake and says "Must be these goddamned holes in my feet"

(Yeah, yeah ... my "special place" is probably somewhere between the women who didn't vote for Hillary, and the men who harass women)

Assuming that there was a Jesus HE never heard of Christianity. Mesmerism was around long before Jesus. I am not sure but maybe it was his Brother Jim. More likely it was Pete. Anyway, it was a Jewish sect and the first members were Jews. (that is how I understand it)

I'm not sure, but you just may have described a season of General Hospital.

Jesus founded Christianity,

@chaski Said

This is incorrect.

While Jesus may or may not be the reason why christianity was founded, Jesus clearly stated that Peter would be the rock upon which the church would be build meaning that Peter would found the church.

And while the teachings of the New Testament are primarily based on the words of Paul, it would more accurate to say that christianity as we know it was founded by a bunch of early christian leaders (aka bishops) at the direction of the Emperor Constantine.

I heard that Abraham Lincoln was born in a log cabin he built with his own two hands!

I think I saw a commercial with him holding a Stihl - so that must be right.

It was during the broadcast of a 49'ers football game last year.

JP: Religion is the belief in and worship of...

E: That is how I define it too.

JP: ...people treat the church as the religion whereas it should be God they believe in and worship.

E: I kind of see the people as the Church not the building but then the building is a church. Anyway I do not understand what you mean.

E: I worked as a janitor in a church for a number of years. My direct experience (though admittedly a rather small sample) ...at least some of the congregation honestly believe in and worship their God.

E: The like the rituals, were nice. Some churches don't have rituals but actually they are kind of ritualistically non-ritualistic.

E: ...and (or course) bingo is fun.

E: Minister of a particular sect has interpreted the text in a particular way and the believer finds an interpreter that tells them what they want to hear and then follows that minister.

E: You do not need to go to a building to find God. Wherever you go God is there. God knows what you think and what you want and need.

E: Gathering in fellowship with those who believe as you do is reassuring and it helps get you through your life. And as I said the bingo is fun too.

If you don't know about it (whatever it is) how can you know anything about it????

Baptism is only a naming ceremony .. and a commitment by the parents to raise it with an understanding of God. It is NOT an entry ticket to anything... especially not heaven.

Well that isn't very biblical.
