So after realizing a bunch of stuff and in the process of seeking myself, I have decided to remove myself from Religion. I’m not reverting to atheism or anything. I still believe in God, but I don’t believe God wanted us to follow Religion. To me Religion is an ideology that was created for something positive, but has been altered and poisoned so many times throughout the years that it just turns me off. I feel that by doing this, it opens my mind up more. Now besides this, the only issue I have is how I’m going to tell my mom.

Since you're grown, your parents ought not have the same sway. I am 46 and somewhat estranged from family even though I'm on more or less good terms.

Do you believe your mother actually wants you to "follow religion?" or is that a description of something else?

in my 20's, i question my religion. like going to temple for " high holy days " and other jewish holidays, jewish people observe. just going to temple at all, why i am going?

i just go to temple for familyreasons, not personal goals or needs. the words of the " torah " didn't mean much to me. much of it was in hebrew, i never could master that much.

i understood when the rabbi spoken explain what the torah was saying it make sense. sometimes, i felt something with compassion, what he was saying that i felt in my heart. in my early 20's, from being a kid to adult, this part of my religion, i didn't need in my life.

i have been close to 20 years, since i step into a temple, i don't miss it. i always that should go to temple for obligation to my faith. then why i am not interest it anymore.

god in my heart, i am jewish. i believe in jewish traditions. some of at least.
i never heard that you don't lost your faith, if you don't go temple once or twice a year. fear of god, strike me down with one of his lightning bolts, if i don't go to temple. ( twilite, and your lovely ex-wife stella stand out of this post. wait to see if lightning strike either one of you down, while i finish this post. )

we, all brought up believe that we as regilion is more important thing than anything in our life. the truth is that religion to anyone is a choose. not command, that have in your life. people think they have to follow.

Yes, Religion is created by man, but that does not necessarily mean there is no God (or gods? or ...)

You don't have to be "Religious" to be spiritual.

Does she need to be told? What she doesn't know won't hurt her.

Going to church is no big deal. Throughout my life I have gone to a variety (from Catholic to Baptist to Mormon to Jewish to Buddhist....etc) sometimes for a holiday, sometimes for a relative...a friend....etc.

I actually enjoyed the services (usually), even though I view them ultimately as unnecessary.

Interesting.

When people ask me about coming back to religion I tell them to toss out everything the had learnt in church before... and let God teach and guide them.

They may feel like they are in a rut, or simply not growing in faith, or have walked away and now want to reconnect with God.

Church is not religion.. God is.

When I returned to religion I went to church and knew it was right. Not the church but God. I changed church a few times and ended up a couple years later back to the first one I went to.
Things had changed there, and it felt right.
I now conduct services at that (and a couple other churches) and quite openly criticise the organisation - the church - all the damage it has done.. and still doing.
I should be kicked out (and apparently this had been discussed at HQ)but the congregations won't allow it. My guess is God won't allow it.

You not really removing yourself from religion but from Church.
Grow some balls.... you can create change..

Church is a place of worship and it needs people to shake it up... back to simply being a place of worship (and running great activities that help the community)

Listen buddy, God isn't interested in forcing you. He wants you to come willingly.. free will.

Not come actually.... to have a relationship with him. Talk to him like a good friend type relationship.

18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Jesus founded Christianity, and claimed to have come from God, and claimed to be the Son of God. So one of you is wrong. He followed religion assiduously, and he was called Rabbi. And he founded Christianity, a very large religious body.

Assuming that there was a Jesus HE never heard of Christianity. Mesmerism was around long before Jesus. I am not sure but maybe it was his Brother Jim. More likely it was Pete. Anyway, it was a Jewish sect and the first members were Jews. (that is how I understand it)

It may be that Jesus and Judas had it planed. Judas goes to the high priest and tells him he knows where Jesus is. They go to the garden and Judas gives Jesus' brother Jim a big sloppy kiss. Jim is arrested and tacked up to a cross. Later Jesus shows up and says, "I'm Back. The apostles say, OMG and Jesus says, "That's right". Judas (of course) had to be killed in order to prevent the truth from coming out. Jesus disappears (ascends into Heaven) and then pretends to be his brother Jim. <<The Gospel according to Erimitus)

I am pretty sure that religion is the worship of a God and not a God.

I am a born again agnostic. When Huxley coined the term it was not in reference to theism.

Jesus and Mithra were the same deity. Constantine told the various Bishops to get their story's straight so they met at Nicene and came up with a creed. They settled on three or four versions of the story that most of the Christian denominations still use (though they each interpret it differently)

And yes, there was a time that I would have been burned at the stake for saying that.

i do my own talking to god in my own way. i have a normal relationship with god. you know that god has bad grammar like me. he is ok by me.

most of tradional stories about judism come stories out of a desert. that jewish people that roamed for 40 years for freedom.

two characters named moses and noah, the most interesting lives in the desert in jewish history. torah and the bible are pretty much the same book. after that, they were common people like other kind of reglious people in cultures in the books.

torah and probably the bible ( i have read the bible version or the pictures bible, you see in children's doctors. when i was a kid, i personally like " jack & jill " magazine, " boy's life ", and " highlight " in doctor's offices. )if anything that both books have in common that few people some incredible lives. heck of a lot of people were common and boring like normal people, you and i. some of these people were lost who they are and had no place to go. they found themselves through god or what had in the desert. that sound pretty normal to me.

if anything that the bible and torah teach us about the people in our religion back then. that they were boring and dull like us now.

Jesus founded Christianity

This is incorrect.

While Jesus may or may not be the reason why christianity was founded, Jesus clearly stated that Peter would be the rock upon which the church would be build meaning that Peter would found the church.

And while the teachings of the New Testament are primarily based on the words of Paul, it would more accurate to say that christianity as we know it was founded by a bunch of early christian leaders (aka bishops) at the direction of the Emperor Constantine.
