I'm glad you enjoyed the experience, Eagle.

We had a total eclipse here in August 1999 and it was a breathtaking experience. It was just before my 15th birthday and school was out for the summer, but word had gone around on t'internet and everybody who wasn't away on holiday at the time came to the school and we all stood in the playground to watch it.

It turned into quite a social event in the end. lol.

This was an event which truly, genuinely, merited the term "Awesome".

We've recently had the Perseid Meteor Shower. We got up early to see it and our moving around woke Meg up. We took her out to see it too and she was utterly enthralled.

Nature's own fireworks display knocks anything mankind can produce into a cocked hat.

The Swift-Tuttle Comet which produces the trail through which Earth travels every year to produce the meteor shower, has an orbital period of 133 years. It's next passing of Earth will be in August 2126. Only 9 years away. Make sure you don't miss it, folks. You won't get another chance.

I didn't feel like forking over money for one-time glasses, so I layered 3 pairs of regular sunglasses and covered the sides around them with my hands, like a pair of goggles. Worked like a charm, I saw the whole progression.

I could have taken a picture, but I've been waiting 19 years to see it myself
