That Trump is undeniably the nation's 45th president doesn't sit easily with young Americans like Anderson who are the nation's increasingly diverse electorate of the future, according to a new poll. A majority of young adults - 57 percent - see Trump's presidency as illegitimate, including about three-quarters of blacks and large majorities of Latinos and Asians, the GenForward poll found.

GenForward is a poll of adults age 18 to 30 conducted by the Black Youth Project at the University of Chicago with The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

A slim majority of young whites in the poll, 53 percent, consider Trump a legitimate president, but even among that group 55 percent disapprove of the job he's doing, according to the survey.

Just a quarter of young Americans have a favorable view of the Republican Party, and 6 in 10 have an unfavorable view. Majorities of young people across racial and ethnic lines hold negative views of the GOP.

The Democratic Party performs better, but views aren't overwhelmingly positive. Young people are more likely to have a favorable than an unfavorable view of the Democratic Party by a 47 percent to 36 percent margin. But just 14 percent say they have a strongly favorable view of the Democrats.

As for Trump, 8 in 10 young people think he is doing poorly in terms of the policies he's put forward and 7 in 10 have negative views of his presidential demeanor.

"I do not like him as a person," says Gallardo of Trump. She nonetheless voted for Trump because she didn't trust Clinton. "I felt like there wasn't much choice."

There may be hope for our nation's future after all . It would seem that the voters are getting smarter by the decade. and that can only be a good thing .

I work with a lot of millennials. They really do give me hope. On both sides of the political spectrum.

"Kids these days" always get a bad reputation, but the actual people, not the millennial stereotype, will be ok.
Many have struggles my gen and before did not, and they still persist and succeed.
Assuming we don't end the world before they get a chance to lead.

It's a shame though, that America's 'best before' date just says: 'Trump'

In all seriousness though, young people are starting to pay attention more to politics. But there also should've been a lot more people who voted this election. Too many people had the attitude of "I don't like either candidates so I'm not going to vote," but that's why Trump got in. People were choosing not to have a say in who runs their country.

Suppose they all voted for Stein or Johnson. Imagine how much of a clusterf*** the election could've been with a 3rd party candidate possibly taking a few electoral districts away from Trump or Clinton. I think that would've been pretty interesting.

I like to b**** and fuss to much to not vote . And as they say if you can't be bothered to use your vote then you can't be bothered to have an opinion .
Around election time when people see me coming and lock their doors , , well not really , but I really do have a difficult time being quite around folks who say stuff like ' I don't bother to vote because ,,,,,< insert any number of excuses << ' . So I start asking them simple questions about simple stuff and just about the time they get rolling on what really gets them hot , I'll say ' oh , sorry I forgot, you don't use your vote so you can't be bothered to have an opinion , my bad. A few have bowed up and started voting just so we could finish what I started .
I usually shy away from young people , I never really questioned why that is . but I suppose I have to say because I hadn't read anything like this article about the up and coming voters before.
You know maybe a few clusterf***s is what we need to ' WAKE UP AMERICA' and maybe get some changes happening .

That's a brilliant way to get people to try and vote. I can imagine you swayed quite a few people.

Speaking of clusterf***s, I'm in Kamloops right now and have yet to send the socks I've been cooking up for Trump. They're in a sealed container, getting more and more pungent every day. I can hardly wait to send them his way.

‘Making History’ Actor Adam Pally Says He Wants To “Kill Trump”, maybe you could send this guy the socks and he could use them if he's actually serious about what he's spouting off ....

The only link I have for this actors story is to that blogger Trump puts so much store in , and I'll be damned if I'll give him any 'air time ' ,,,,

I would, but I'm afraid that if I did, the smell would kill Adam Pally and my socks would just be left, forgotten and undelivered to the intended recipient... Poor socks.

A stinky sock that's left unsniffed is a sock that's truly wasted...

Each one of these political polls need to include one more question - and include it in the published results: Did You Vote?

I agree, but, if they did ,then wouldn't it be time consuming and expensive for the poll takers to find enough people to make the poll work ?
