@JorieJukebox Said I think I just need to release somewhere...
At work this morning, I'm going about my business and my cousin, also my boss, opens the door to the warehouse, and hollers and motions for me... I start towards him, pulling my gloves off... We're doing major cleaning of the factory before Christmas break, so I figure they just needed extra hands for something...
"Tully's here, he said it's really important..."
Tully's my cousin, too, and he doesn't work there, nearly NEVER has a reason to even BE there... My heart DROPPED. I knew right away something was up, so I picked up the pace. All I could think of (My family has been thru A LOT lately) was 'OMFG who died now...'
I saw his face, and almost started crying right then and there...
He tried to assure me everything was okay, but I demanded he tell me WTF was going on...
"Margaret passed out and collapsed, and is in an ambulance to the hospital."
My world got REALLY small, REALLY fast...
His next words sounded like we were under water...
He said more, but it's a blur... I told my cousin/boss something, and he didn't even let me finish and pretty much just said "Yeah, GO. Keep us posted..."
I immediately called my Mom and her and another cousin were already half way there, and in THAT call another cousin was calling so I called her back and ended up riding in with her...
...
They would only let us in two at a time, but after a couple rotations, it was my three cousins, (Auntie's daughters) my brother and myself...
...
Our eyes met, and she smiled and could only mouth the words "I love you, babe." I had to force my smile. Her chin had a huge bruise where she had used it to land... One of her front teeth was chipped...
Her heart had STOPPED. Cardiac arrest. TOTALLY different thing than a heart attack, we learned today.
She DIED for a couple minutes today.
Her SEVENTEEN year old daughter rolled her over and started CPR. Doc out and out said "You saved your Mom's life today."
I had to fight a lot to not lose it when I heard that doctor talk about her heart stopping.
I could no longer keep the tears in as I watched my Mom stroke my Auntie's face and hair as both fought their own tears, and my mom softly says "You can't leave me, Sis..."
You'd be crying if you knew the loss they've gone thru together, starting with my Grandma when they were teens...
They're doing a lot of tests to see exactly what caused the arrest, and she'll likely be in there a few days...
2016 can officially go f*** itself.
