The GOPers better get a plan B together - like start passing legislation to free the electoral college from their legal obligation to cast their vote according to the popular vote of their respective states.

@Ratty Said

Trump policy issues I've never really had much issue with, it's just his unstable personality that I couldn't get behind.

Many are doable, some probably aren't. In the real world things don't go the way you think they should and that is just "politics" of the world.

So in essence you're pretty screwed. The one person that may advance your policy goals (although highly doubtful that he'd be able to do anything in regards to the trade deals, NATO or building a wall - but that's another conversation) is an unstable narcissist that's more mouth than substance.

Your second closest for your isolationist perspective is Gary Johnson. Nice guy but a bit of a loon. Not really practical anyway.

Jill Stein. I highly doubt you'll find sympatico there.

And that leaves the detestable (in your opinion) Hillary Clinton.

I get your frustration.

So I guess on a practical level, one must ask do you have a secondary set of goals for your vote/this election?

ETA... just hit me as I hit post. Have you looked at Evan McMullin ?

I do feel screwed in terms of a guy to root for. I don't detest HRC, I just find her to be typical, I don't have much respect for politicians in general just because I feel that they are bought and paid for by special interest. You can't make it in this country unless you're in someone's or some groups pocket.

Campaign finance reform needs to be looked at, but it never will. Term limits and things of that nature needs to be looked at. The lobbyist control and propose of how bills and legislation gets brought up all need to be looked at.... IDK.....

Still calling it like it is then, and we seem to agree:

Clinton sucks, Clinton sucks, Clinton sucks, Clinton sucks, Clinton sucks x10.

And she is still the most qualified and most able of all of our selections across the entire campaign.

And? so?

My fingers were possessed, couldn't stop them from, honest.
Was gonna say, honest injun, but then I might be accused of being racist.
Being PC can go too far, and too many people nowadays are much tooo thin-skinned.

Clinton sucks. Clinton sucks. Clinton sucks. Clinton sucks.
And? so? What's 'my' point? None. Just entertaining myself, killing time.

@LuckyCharms Said

And 2/3rds of Trump supporters think Obama is foreign and/or muslim.

Most people thought the world was flat at one point in time.

The majority of Americans support the death penalty.

Most Americans believe in Jesus Christ.

Most people don't realize the environmental calamity we are facing.

If you can't tell, I'm not too impressed by public opinion.

What kind of radical change would you like to see that you believe is not only present in other candidates but is able to be implemented across our political spectrum?

Just for the record:

You (or anyone) posting what you believe are credible facts or resources does not necessarily 'make' those very same things acceptable as credible/believable to others. Your (or anyone's) understanding/perspective/definition of reality does not necessarily 'make' it the same reality as others understand/perceive/ define it. **It's what fairness, diversity and rights are all about.
"We" the people ......! *****Being skilled in using words to expres yourself ((and influence/cause doubt in other persons' minds) does not make one's fact less ... nor 'more' credible then those who may or not be as skilled in communicating one's thoughts/ideas/perspectives/'facts'.

:sigh: Really need to go watch some football or study my lesson for the week. Lucky: you're putting some great 'ideas' out here!

@LuckyCharms Said

It is fact. Every one is entitled to their own opinions. But not their own facts.

Put her record and her qualifications side by side against every candidate in the entirety of the race and it's no contest. She is the most qualified and most able. It's not even really debatable. You don't have to like it - many don't - but your (and their) displeasure/distaste for the reality does not change that reality.

Her qualifications are not up for debate. That's just reality. Unless we want to go back in history and redefine how we apply the word "qualified" to our elected officials. By every historical and traditional measure, she is the most qualified person in this entire campaign.

So then I go back to my second question - do you have another goal for your vote? There are many ways to express your intentions with your vote.

I've said in one of these threads that I'll do a protest vote probably for Stein, not sure yet, I'm afraid to look into what her positions are on because the more I found out about Johnson I was shocked at what an idiot he turned out to be.

I figure if even people vote third part maybe it would send a message, probably not as some other posters said that the establishment doesn't give a f*** about it and they are probably right.

I'm not sure who gets the benefit, Clinton or Trump of a "no vote" which it essential as far as the two main candidates go.

My gut is telling me that a no vote would help out Clinton, and if it does so be it, at least I can say that I had nothing to do with it, at least directly.

I've said on the forum that I still think that no matter who gets in office it's business as usual. I could be wrong, without a crystal ball who the hell know what is what til it happens.

Well if you want to protest the extreme right that birthed Donald Trump, you could do a lot worse than Jill Stein and the Green Party. It would definitely be a big FU to the republicans. Of course, bear in mind that protest votes are ignored except by those who cast them.

Quote:
The Green Party of the United States (GPUS or Greens) is a green, left-wing political party in the United States. The party, which is the country's fourth-largest by membership, promotes environmentalism, nonviolence, social justice, participatory grassroots democracy, feminism, LGBT rights, and anti-racism.

If you are more or less "ok" with Tump's policy ideas, you won't like Stein much.

She is farther to the left than Bernie. Of course if all you're interested in is not going to war, she is exactly like Johnson.

Here is a site that gives a pretty realistic comparison of the candidates: https://presidential-candidates.insidegov.com

But, don't trust me...I'm a troll who never deals in facts.

Lucky had a good suggestion: you might want to check out Evan McMullin. I've been seeing his name thrown around a lot lately, especially with my conservative friends that can't get behind Trump. They also seem to unsure of Johnson too. Though being as he is from here, many give him the benefit of the doubt, when it comes to the gaffes like the Aleppo. Which is really a third party disadvantage, not a policy/platform problem. He definitely has his pluses and minuses in those categories.

I don't really consider myself a conservative, I tend to score center slight left. I like some conservative ideals and I like some liberal ideals.

Is this guy even on the ballot? Can you write him in? I forget some of this stuff. I usually vote by mail and I can't remember if you can write people in or not.
