| i have been watching Wimbledon tennis championships, battle of the Somme, the aftermath of brexit, all the fall out on that, and the candidates for the new leader of the conservative party, also labour leadership problems i enjoy watching tennis, been interested in the battle of the somme, all the fall out of brexit.........which i feel has been the right outcome!
well i wonder who will be the next pm......also will labour make a change?

Im not really a tennis fan, so not that fussed who wins Wimbledon really, I'd guess either Djokovic, Murray or Federer.
Battle of the Somme will never be forgotten, I observed the 2 minutes silence today to mark the moment those brave soldiers went over the top, its staggering to think what must have been going through their minds leading up to those last couple of minutes.
I believe Brexit will be the best thing Britain has done for such a long time, I voted to leave but didn't actually believe we would, it was only the following morning whilst driving to work with the radio on that I heard we had voted out, Im happy all the scare stories and bull s*** from the Remain side were ignored, democracy finally pays.
I don't really think it matters who becomes the Tory or Labour leaders, I've a feeling they'll end up ballsing everything up as per usual, the merry go round will just start all over again. |

Sad to see that Djokovic went out yesterday. He is a truly great player, but the up-side of this is that it improves Andy Murray's chances of winning. The way the draw has worked out makes a Williams vs Williams women's final likely. Who can stop them..?
I too observed the two minute silence and at these times, my thoughts are always ones of regret that the human race continues in its stupidity of going to war. Lest we forget.... the Chilcott Report into the Iraq War is due out on Wednesday and whilst I would hope for a frank and honest report, I expect a complete and utter whitewash. It is probable that Blair could walk away smiling his oily smile and telling the world that he has been vindicated. I hope it isn't so, but it's what I expect.
I was disappointed with the outcome of the Referendum - I voted to remain - and I believe that in the long term it will do great damage to Britain. Those claiming that (their phrase) "Project Fear" has not been realised aren't looking beyond the tips of their noses. We haven't even invoked Article 50 yet so those who will be doing the hard bargaining will be keeping their powder dry - for now. Time will tell, but whilst on holiday, I purchased a tee shirt which I expect to wear as the months go by and the economy deteriorates further and further. The slogan on it says simply: "Don't Blame Me. I Voted Remain".
The United Kingdom is a dead duck. Scotland WILL leave the Union. At the moment, Nicola Sturgeon is going through the motions of ticking the boxes to prevent anybody using blocking tactics when she demands a second referendum. She went to Europe and asked if there was any way Scotland could remain in the EU. They said No. "There is no Single Market a la Carte". That was what she wanted to hear. When she has gotten all the potential political traps and tripwires that Westminster could possibly put in front of her, out of the way, then she'll demand the second referendum, and with the way Scotland voted at the EU referendum, Westminster cannot possibly refuse without being seen in the eyes of the world as an act of undemocratic tyranny.
And let's not forget that Northern Ireland isn't happy either. If Sinn Fein can push for a United Ireland referendum, it might just happen. And they might just win. Don't say it can't happen.... when you give people a vote, sometimes they just go ahead and use it.
Farage's utterly tasteless taunting of the European Parliament was about as disgusting as only he can get. "You laughed when I said I wanted to take Britain out of the EU. You're not laughing now". and then slagging off the members: "You lot haven't done a day's work in your lives". There is just no need for that kind of arrogant triumphalism. He actually took the trouble of travelling from the north of England to Europe just to indulge in the sort of tasteless, childish schadenfreud that would make a five year old ashamed of himself. The man has no class.
The outbreak of war in the political parties is a direct consequence of the Leave vote. The two principle political parties here are imploding. Boris stabbed Cameron in the back over the Referendum and Gove has stabbed him in the back. Et tu, Brutus. Meanwhile, Theresa May has lurked sharklike in the background waiting the right moment to launch her candidacy. I didn't like David Cameron and I certainly didn't vote for him at the General Election, but he is the only person in Parliament who has behaved with any dignity over all this.
Corbyn's position is untenable politically. His credibility is shot to hell. I would not be surprised if he had voted Leave when in the privacy of the ballot booth. He's a dead fish as far as Labour MP's are concerned, but he still holds a lot of support in the Trade Unions and in the constituency parties. He might just hold on, but Labour will be pretty much unelectable at any snap General Election. |
